Meeting of Minds!

If we all had to work together and individually voice our opinion to what is the next step to restoration of our Hawaiian Government, What would you say needs to be done? Would you be willing to follow through with your plan of action? What do you expect the out come to be?Please everyone be free to think aloud. Voice your opinion. Anyone making pilikia with others will have their comments deleted. I will not delete a legitimate answer even though it may not be what we want to see.I'll start it off first.I think that the land in Hawaii is the most important. Therefore I propose to lien all ceded lands by filing a lien at the bureau of conveyances. This would definitely keep the State from selling land on a short term basis. If you do this be prepared to fight. I'm willing to do it. I think the state is gonna be pissed and try to file a judgment against me, but at least I'm trying to preserve what is inherently ours.

Xmas2.jpgReport: Iraq abuse photos depict torture, rapeObama administration trying to block the court-ordered release of imagesThe Associated Pressupdated 2:24 a.m. HT, Thurs., May 28, 2009LONDON - A former U.S. general said graphic images of rape and torture are among the photos of Iraqi prisoner abuse that President Barack Obama's administration does not want released.Retired Major Gen. Antonio Taguba, who oversaw the U.S. investigation into the abuses at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison, was quoted as telling Britain's Daily Telegraph in an article Wednesday that he agreed with Obama's decision not to release the pictures."I am not sure what purpose their release would serve other than a legal one and the consequence would be to imperil our troops, the only protectors of our foreign policy, when we most need them," Taguba was quoted by the Daily Telegraph. "The mere description of these pictures is horrendous enough, take my word for it."It was not exactly clear what photos Taguba was referring to.A U.S. military official in Baghdad, however, said "the photos referred to are ones that Taguba is not aware of." The official spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because he was not authorized to release the information. The military is referring all questions on the matter to Washington. The Obama administration did not immediately respond to requests for comment.Iraqis called for an investigation into the Daily Telegraph report."The Iraqi government must demand the reopening of the Abu Ghraib scandal case again," said Ali Kadom, 45, who works at the Ministry of Transportation.Khalid Bashi, 35, a trade office owner in Baghdad, said Obama should release the photos to put a stop to a possible scandal."Sooner or later, more scandals will appear that show crimes against humanity carried out by American troops in Iraq," Bashi said. The prisoner abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib exploded after photos taken by soldiers appeared in 2004.According to the Telegraph, the new photos depicted much more serious abuses than previously documented. One photo reportedly showed an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner and another was said to show a male translator raping a male detainee, the paper reported. The Telegraph said the photos related to 400 cases of alleged abuse between 2001 and 2005 at Abu Ghraib and six other prisons. It was not immediately clear from the newspaper report who had seen the photos or how they might have been obtained. The newspaper said the images in the photos were backed up by statements from Taguba's report into prisoner abuses at Abu Ghraib obtained under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act.URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30978967/

HOAILONA - haele mai e kae!

That always seems to get some stalkers' attention. Ano ai e Maka'ulani! NAU keia olelo noeau.Pepe ka nahele o Upeloa, nawili i ka ua kakahiakaThis was an expression in chants referring to anyone who was humiliated. That means, not comprehending, acting stupid, acting out by posting in the forums, contacting Ken Conklin to post pics of the person(s) targeted and getting everyone else to jump in on the action. When people make assumptions, and imply that well known scholars such as Kamakau had their work "tainted", which is something that some people have always claimed with "piracy". Or when you have people claim that we are making claims that genealogies are not true to go research it ourselves.Had these people comprehend the context in its entirety, they would understand that some people just can't be trusted because they've actually seen genealogies posted, like here on MW and have now added it in to their own genealogy. As the saying goes, Kai no he koa no ka la nui, he koa ka no ka la iki, referring to those who flee, the chicken $h!t. We've seen it before, people don't like confrontation and insists that they are right, that their sources are valid, and have to state the number of years of research that they've done in order to validate this. Of course if I were to grade this person I'd give them a D or F, but in return they whine, threaten with police reports or get the only pseudo-bodyguard that they can gather who hides behind a mask to come and fight to which turns into nothing but defamation rather than arguing the points, then incites others as a means of validating while their presence is here by saying "get mad", it really paints only one facet of their character. Cowardness. That olelo noeau sums it up, when someone runs, rather than fight. When I mean fight, I don't mean to post another blog entry as a means to show how tough or smart one is. They're not dealing with the problem. With that said, anyone who ended up being wrong, becomes afraid. It's not the end of the world, man up, face your adversaries (if that's how you see it), and if you want to hide behind an icon that supposedly signifies bravery, or not sure what the message is really, then at least face your opponent, face-to-face. Hohe wale ka mea hewa.

DHHL - Disgust and Outrage

Well its about that time to start beating the pahu at Linda Lingles doorsteps. Anyone ever took a good look at the waiting lists for all the poe kanaka on the DHHL waiting list. I was interested in finding out where my father stood in line and was wondering why so many have not been awarded land. As I spoke to the DHHL representative it became apparent to me that they are not going to award land to more than 80 % of the people on the list. In a time when Lingle is cutting funding from DHHL and using funds from the ceded stolen lands inventory we need to beat our pahu's on her doorstep. The DHHL has a possibility to award 80-100 units every 2 years with funding. If you take a look at the waiting list you will see many of the Kupuna will die on the list, because there are thousands. For those of you overseas living in the continent maybe pick up the phone and beat the pahu in her secretary's ear, she's a real piece of work.http://hawaii.gov/dhhl/application-wait-list-1Be pissed off because no matter how we look at it we're being ripped off. Down with Lingle... we need a Hawaiian for governor, and not Dukey the dog who's being led by Lingle on a leash...where has he been during this ceded land issue anyway. Puh Hawaiian I don't think so!

Education - Not everything is in books!

As good practice it is the best as a researcher to use primary sources. Unfortunately the more topics I read on here I find that the discussions are more than not related to secondary sources. Even some primary sources such as articles and newspaper clippings are tainted because they are written from a certain "point of view." My suggestion too many of you who always insinuate that genealogical claims are not true, is to go research it yourself. Then we will truly see who shines and who cries. It doesn't take much to go buy a book and read and write an opinion, but it takes real talent to sift through countless documents and records too prove what your talking about. Only a few people on here know what I'm talking about.BTW go apologize to Gregory Tim Sing you idiot. A classic example of stupidity!

Are you saying that you are the only descendant of one alli and that you are entitled to all crown lands? Are you for real? It reminds of Akahi Nui who went to the palace and didn't know which room to go to. He could have paid the $15 for the tour, and he would have found it without any problems! How do you expect the po'e to listen and follow you when your own intentions does not serve the interest of the Hawaiian Nationals!

HAWAII The Fake State

290371.jpg

I had bought that book 2 weeks ago, got it last week. Not a very easy read in my opinion, but nonetheless, a lot of facts and some things I wasn't aware of, although I do wonder of the interpretation of some documents. In any event, a few people have commented on my book, one person is the typical "fascinated with anything Hawaii" type of moron. But today, another guy asked, and it's not the question but more like a statement while reading the title of the book. Everyone else laughs when they hear someone reads the title of my book. Hahaha, yes, funny, we know.So this guy, whose name is Paul, after reading it, asks says, "Hawaii The Fake State? That's not true is it?" I said, "Paul, you would know the answer to this, right? And that you are right, because...???"Then he asks why is it, and I said because of many reasons and he asked to give him one example. I gave him an earful! Unfortunately, it wasn't all the things I had underlined in the book and jotted down into my notes, but it was enough to make him realize there was truth in it. Granted I gave him my own honest opinion about the book, other than that, I'm starting to become more confident (if not fed up) in explaining to people the facts.Meanwhile, I think back to people like Eric Seabury or Ken Conklin or Jere Krischel who twists truths. The favorite one was Eric telling me how the Republic of Hawaii was the legal government and was recognized. And that Hawaii's neutrality was not broken, that Hawaii had the right to do what they want, and the best one of them all, he copied & pasted what I had mentioned in Article II where it states that only the Pres. can make treaties. He said not only him, but also the Senate. lolI took notes for a reason though, so that I can summarize them a lot easier, and in order. I think if I had done that, it would've been easier to explain everything to Paul and it would've been concise. But oh well, can't win um all.Now where's the self-proclaimed alii now? They (self proclaimed) should be educating, since they claim that many people are undereducated, yet I don't see them educating at all.

HE HOAILONA - a Hawaiian community

Seriously, these signs are good! It only takes one person or incident (or more actually) that tells me to wake up, and see what is being said. As was the case yesterday, as there was a posting about someone, that eventually got responnses or actually retaliation to which, as usual, that said person disagreed and as usual, do everything in the dirty book, did in order to come across, as that person described in a forum discussion which was locked, as "FEAR".That person's tactic, was to incite fear by stating they had an ancestor who was a, kahuna from Molokai. This is to give the idea that Molokai was well known for their school of sorcery. There is no mention of who this ancestor was, mainly because there is no ancestral kahuna from Molokai that this person claims to have. Now although I come from Molokai, I do not have ancestors from that school of sorcery, at least not that I'm aware of. There is a relative, my ancestors' relative in the 1800s, probably in the early 1900s too, that did practice 'ana'ana, but that was on Maui. Whether he went to Molokai to learn it or not is unknown. However, it's irrelavant. Should I expose my ancestors, and throw fear into people to make them back off? That's what this one person is trying to do, and that is what KU (aka a person w/ the initials of G.T.S.) had done too, by stating they are descendants of a kahuna on Molokai and Ku. so if these people claim descent, what gives them the right to actually flaunt it? Does it mean that whatever they say is gold, while the rest of us cannot say anything? What is unique though, that through all of this, I was reminded of how fortunate I was to have grown up in a small community on Molokai. My neighbors, of whom my family is close with, are descendants of the woman responsible for setting up the school of sorcery known as hoopiopio where she taught dream interpretation, how to counter attack mischief, sickness and death. She had the knowledge of how to swish her kapa and drop a man in his tracks, plus she was the keeper of the Kalaipahoa gods after the death of her father, the chief Kaiakea who had discovered and built a house for the gods Kapo and Pua and became their kahu. It was these gods who entered the trees up in Maunaloa and became the kalaipahoa gods. But for us, growing up was just...normal. These neighbors of mine, along with other descendants of whom I went to school with, some are my cousins' cousins, never, ever threatened me or anyone else, unlike what that person did. And there was a good reason why they didn't do that. We were of the same community. We had to live in harmony. One didn't do hoopiopio for the sake of threatening just as that person did. That's not what that was for. When looking back, I realized how much and how fortunate I was to be exposed to that. Mai hookiekie, as the olelo noeau or part of the olelo noeau states. Too bad others can't follow that.

Nimitz Beach

I must admit, other than working on my dissertation, I took a break with my children and we went to this beach. I thought it was near Honolulu, however to my amazement it was near Kalaeloa. We had a bbq and the children had fun at the beach.Don't forget to pamper yourself, cause we all need a break too. Life can be so hectic and often neglect ourselves. I had spent time with alumni and created memories too! Enjoy yourself! Here are some pics!

University of Hawai`i-Manoa Hawaiian Studies Professor Jonathan K. Osorio will continue the legal fight to block the state from selling ceded lands, even as the Lingle administration, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and three other plaintiffs in the case appear to be close to a settlement.Osorio, however, said in a statement to The Honolulu Advertiser he is not part of the settlement and that he believes the two-thirds approval requirement in SB 1677 does not go far enough to resolve the concerns he and other Native Hawaiians have raised."Until Hawaiian claims to crown and government lands have been resolved, their sale must be prevented by the strongest law possible," Osorio said.

Link: The irony is not lost

For my family and friends who like know:* I can understand how it is to be po'o pa'a ki ki but one thing I do not appreciate is when someone tags MY personal blog with unsolicited spam. I like my spam and rice though but I do NOT like unsolicited spamming of my PERSONAL blogs where I post hyperlinks accompanied with MY mana'o.* Note that comments are now restricted to family and friends ONLY since some a PILAU people person does not respect other people's mana'o and/or personal space in a PERSONAL blog entry and leaves PILAU comments so I have since restricted comments :-)* Note too that I actually like seeing people's true colors. Whenever I post MY mana'o it brings out the non-pilau as well as the pilau. Obviously I ignore the pilau :-)Some people have asked me at my Facebook how I know so-and-so. I know some people from high school. One thing I don't do is brag and/or boast about who I know so that may be why some people are surprised that I know so-and-so. I am very discreet and trust is very important to me. I don't take that lightly. They happen to already know that I state the obvious LOLSome are amused. The irony is not lost on me when someone disparages other Hawaiians by creating a list that includes a Hawaiian or Hawaiians calling them "pirates" for the WORLD TO SEE. I call it "THAT" list where some of the creator's cousins via Wakea, Papa, and Haloa are mentioned. What this means is that the creator of this list is implicating HERSELF in the process and yet "we" need to be educated??? Puhlease. THAT list implicates HERSELF as some of HER cousins through Wakea, Papa, and Haloa are on it so some of HER relatives are "pirates" too:http://www.maoliworld.com/forum/topics/letters-of-kokua?id=2011971%3ATopic%3A192440&page=1#commentsThese people are problematic: For every step forward that an oiwi takes these people set oiwi back two or three steps. Our history is rich with greed, hate, lust, killings, etc When this information is shared with some pilau instead of keeping them as intra-Hawaiian issues the information falls into the wrong hands. They use it to destroy oiwi and thus the iwi. Sometimes they use it as a tool to belittle Hawaiians and/or to try to discredit the existence of the Hawaiian Kingdom. That is NOT something to be proud of. Then again their goal is not to educate. Instead it is to obtain recognition.Far too often the typical response is that other people are jealous. I do not post pics of other people often but Kalani did... plastering her picture all over my profile page. It begs the question: Jealous? A picture is worth a 1000 words. These people who resort to the jealousy pseudo-argument are part of the problem. Instead of resolving issues and/or trying to RESOLVE issues they create more problems. THEY are part of the problem why so many oiwi are homeless and why so many are renters and not OWNERS of homes. I call these people BOTTLENECKS. They only create problems instead of resolving them.Meanwhile my mother asks me regularly why I care so much considering how pilau some people are. Just because they are pilau does not mean that all oiwi are pilau.Despite some pilau people I STILL plan to help pay for tuition for some less fortunate oiwi who will turn around and HELP --- not HURT -- other oiwi. THAT will NEVER change so no need worry LOLLaaaaaaatahs! [Going beach today.]

Aloha kaua e everyone. You read that right. As I am typing this newest blog to Maoliworld, Ululani Oliva, Academic Advisor from the Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, is coordinating a panel discussion involving Keanu Sai, John Osario, the author of the book, Aran Ardaiz, John Van Dyke, Bumpy Kanahele, Haunani & Mililani Trask, and maybe a few others, on the topic and subject of if and how Hawaii really is a State, or if Hawaii really is a FAKE State. It should be a very stimulating & uplifting discussion. This is tentively scheduled for sometime in June. I will keep all of you posted. Mahalo Ke Akua, for such a time as this!!!
