USA covert and overt activities led to the invasion of the Hawaiian Kingdom and immediately recognized its complicitor's proclamation without the people's knowledge.
Without US military intervention and USA complicity, the USA puppet Provisional Government would not have lasted for more than an hour.
Using that backing, they created the Republic of Hawai`i against the people's wishes.
All legal attempts to annex Hawai`i to the USA failed because the people overwhelmly protested and sent their Ku'e Petitions to Washington D.C.
It was ignored by the pro-annexationists and complicitors.
In covering up the hoax, Congress passed the Newlands Resolution falsly declaring the majority wished for the annexation of Hawai`i without a lawful treaty.
That's how Hawai`i became unlawfully annexed even according to US laws.
The truth is the current government, the “state of Hawai`i,” is a corporate construct of the United States that resulted from a series of unlawful acts stemming from the 1893 unlawful takeover of the recognized, peaceful, civil government of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
The government of the United States has twice officially acknowledged (in 1893 and again in 1993) that its participation in the takeover of a friendly, neutral nation was an unprovoked unlawful act of aggression.
Suppose someone stole your car, forged documents and sold it to someone else. Does that new “owner” own the car? Suppose the new “owner” gave it to someone else. Does that new “owner” own the car?
Now suppose the original thief confesses to the crime of how he unlawfully obtained (stole) the car. Who owns the car now? Is it the person most recently in possession of the car, or you, the person from whom it was initially stolen?
Of course, according to common sense and common law, the answer is - you. Since you never gave your consent, the title of the car never lawfully changed hands to anyone else.

According to records the first concrete written reference of Hawaiian sign language was a letter scribed by Hiram Bingham to Thomas Hopkins in 1821. This finding on the distinction between Hawaiian sign language and its counterpart over in the U.S. is generating considerable excitement among linguistic researchers who plan to make available three Hawaiian sign language textbooks and a dictionary in due course:

Hawaiians have suffered since the first western contact in 1778.
Western diseases, to which they had no immunity, decimated their numbers.
At the time of western contact, some 800,000 people inhabited the Hawaiian Islands.
By 1805 that number had been halved.
By 1853 there were only 71,000 Hawaiian or part-Hawaiian people in the islands.
Within 100 years of western contact, the Hawaiian population had been reduced by nearly 90 percent.
According to the 2000 census, the numbers of people who claim some native Hawaiian ancestry have increased to over 400,000.
But only 239,000 live in Hawai`i and they are the poorest, most locked-up population in the state.
Although they only make up about 20 percent of the state's population, they make up 39 percent of the state's prison population, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
And they are 37 percent of the state's homeless population.
Ending The US Occupation & Restoring Independence To The Hawaiian Kingdom Is The Only Right To Correct These Wrongs.

Is representation or lack of representation in mass media linked to our struggle for sovereignty and the revival of our national and cultural rights as a people in our own homeland? These and other important questions will be considered in a panel discussion that brings together three Native Hawaiian practitioners in the filmic and visual arts—Anne Keala Kelly, Ann Marie Nālani Kirk, and Carl F. K. Pao. The aim of the discussion, moderated by Ty Kāwika Tengan, is to open up a constructive space for dialogue—within the academy and the wider community—that critically engages with the complex and contested issues concerning representation, identity, and power in Hawai‘i. Ty Kāwika Tengan is an associate professor in ethnic studies and anthropology. He is the author of the book Native Men Remade: Gender and Nation in Contemporary Hawai‘i (Duke University Press, 2008). Anne Keala Kelly is an independent filmmaker and journalist. She wrote and directed the award-winning documentary Noho Hewa: The Wrongful Occupation of Hawai‘i (2009). Her journalism has been broadcast and published by national news organizations and peer- reviewed journals. Ann Marie Nālani Kirk is an award winning filmmaker and has written and directed such works as Happy Birthday, Tutu Ruth and Homealani. Kirk is co-director of the ‘Ōiwi Film Festival, an annual event that showcases films made by Native Hawaiians. This event is cosponsored by Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies. Of the 40,000 non Kingdom subjects in Hawai`i at the time of the illegal 1898 overthrow, only 1,928 or so were U.S. nationals as documented by the 1900 census.
They represented less than 3% of the entire population.
Instead, everyone, Hawaiians and all others, will be citizens of the sovereign and independent Nation of Hawai`i.
The Hawaiian Nation included people of many ethnic backgrounds that were loyal citizens before the illegal overthrow and it will be so again.
The truth is a sovereign Hawaiian nation will need the contributions and talents of all of its citizens to remain viable in the world. Hawaiians would be no better than the very supremacists that overthrew and occupied them were they to divide people by race.
Hawaiians have always been inclusive, not exclusive. How would this be accomplished politically given a civil war resulted the last time a state tried to leave the US?
Unlike the southern US states, the Kingdom of Hawai`i and its citizens never agreed to become part of the United States in the first place.
Therefore a move for Hawai`i to secede from the US would be both unnecessary and inappropriate.
Much like removing the top coat of paint to reveal the one underneath, the US Congress, after consultation between Hawaiians and the US at the level of state to state, could simply enact a US federal law that dissolves the entity known as the “state government” in Hawai`i.
What would be left in its place is what has existed all along anyway without interruption – the Nation of Hawai`i.
