"The Fishermen Of Waimanalo - A Visit With Kalani Kalima"

From ancient times, Waimanalo has been a fishing village to many generations where its fishermen are held in high honor. So naturally when a part of the shoreline fell into disrepair becoming an eyesore the local elders sprang into action. When we met Kalani Kalima there whose father headed the restoration, we were astounded at the transformation. Youʻll be just as amazed in our visit with Kalani as he explains why this area of windward O`ahu of breathtaking beauty has been so important for centuries and itʻs fishermen are respected with such esteem. - Watch It Here

All land in Hawai`i was initially stolen in 1893 by a group of foreigners who subsequently formed the Provisional Government.

Failing at its first attempt in 1894 to be annexed by the US Government, the provisional government reincorporated themselves into the phony Republic of Hawai`i.

The Republic of Hawai`i totaled less than 4000 citizens, mostly white foreigners, compared to the 45,000 Hawaiian Kingdom Nationals living throughout Hawai`i at that time.

It was the Republic of Hawai`i that later exchanged stolen Hawaiian Kingdom lands (property now known in part as the so-called “ceded lands”) with the US.

It is bad news for the U.S. federal Government and Congress a recent survey by the Washington D.C. based Pew Research Center finds that most Americans now distrust their Government, the survey across all 49 U.S. states was compiled between January 9th and 13th last. Here are the findings:

This result is a distinct embarrassment to the Obama administration.

Genealogy

I have been involved in Genealogy daily for nearly 5 years. While I am considered a baby in the genealogy context, I believe that my attention to detail and ferocity allow me to weed out the BS and see the intricacies of my family history.

While it started on my mother's side, I quickly became entrenched in the mystical side of my father's heritage; a heritage that he sadly does not cherish nor care to share about. I am one of the YOUNGEST members of my generation. 20-30 years separate me and my oldest first cousins. I have not had an easy task of having this come to fruition but I am not one to shy away from the challenge.

I dove him with what I knew. The bare minimum. Miraculously, my Unko sent a genealogy book from his POV. And while it was a lot of hodgepodge and required a lot of teasing out the basic tenants of what he was trying to convey, I was able to create a picture. With that, I took off and began searching and working to obtain vital records. Some that are not kept since my grandfather's side comes from Hilo, in a time when record keeping wasn't that great.

My Unko got a lot of his history from his mother and his Tutu, Kapo before she died. As the eldest son, he felt it was duty to carry on the lineage. And so he has to the best of his ability. He and I regularly get together to talk story and write via email almost daily to fact check and explore. I know that his Mana'o is invaluable. It is my hope that this will bring honor to my ancestors, that my work and community with my online Ohana will help me bring to light their stories, whether good or bad.

Any insight or comments or direction is greatly appreciated. Malama pono.

US Americans should start using critical thinking in resolving the Hawaiian issue.

They should become familiar with the laws of occupation to understand the issues.

They will also understand the folly of attempting to turn Hawaiians into American indians and tribes through federal recognition and what that seditiously represents.

Misrepresentation of the facts have been told to Americans and what has and is being done in their name.

Amid the myths and hoax lie documented facts with US admittance of participation through covert and overt activities to destabilize the Hawaiian Kingdom over a century ago.

This took shape in a fake revolution to validate the nefarious actions spurred by the US government officials and their agents residing within the Hawaiian Kingdom.

If the US is therefore unlawfully occupying Hawai`i, it should deoccupy it.

“By an act of war, committed with the participation of a diplomatic representative of the U.S. and without authority of Congress, the Government of a feeble but friendly and confiding people has been overthrown.”

Cleveland continued that the U.S. Government occupied “the position of having actually set up a temporary government on foreign soil for the purpose of acquiring through that agency territory which we had wrongfully put in its possession.

The control of both sides of a bargain acquired in such a manner is called by a familiar and unpleasant name when found in private transactions.” The familiar and unpleasant name found in private transactions is “fraud.”

President Cleveland further stated: “a candid and thorough examination of the facts will force the conviction that the provisional government [of Hawai`i] owes its existence to an armed invasion by the U.S.

Fair-minded people with the evidence before them will [not] claim that the Hawaiian Government was overthrown by the people of the islands or that the provisional government had ever existed with their consent.”

The United States acquired Hawai`i through force.

Queen Lili'uokalani, Hawai`i's last Queen, was deposed on Jan. 17, 1893, by a group of American businessmen supported by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and diplomatic representatives.

Sovereignty of Hawai`i was allegedly transferred to the U.S. on Aug. 12, 1898 during ceremonies at `Iolani Palace in Honolulu, on the island of O`ahu.

Hawai`i allegedly became a U.S. territory in 1900.

On Nov. 23, 1993, The United States apologized for illegally overthrowing the Kingdom of Hawai`i, and recognized the inherent sovereignty and right of self-determination of native islanders.

Needless to say, a lot of shady events took place between Jan. 17,1893 and Aug. 21, 1959.

Hawaiian sovereignty is a hot issue in the islands to this day and likely will be for as long as the United States flag flies over Hawai`i.
