Message from
e This message below is directed to All Malaysians. If you are not a Malaysian, then take it for information sake. Politics itself is not dirty, but it's people who make it dirty....so it depends on which side of the fence you are in.. Thanks to W.F. Cheah for sharing this article by William Leong. William Leong is the treasurer of PKR and younger brother of ex minister, Paul Leong. Practising in law for 20 odd years before going into politics PLEASE READ IF YOU CARE ENOUGHFOR YOUR KIDS' FUTURE All Malaysians are duty bound to help each other to achieve a better life in our country. With the performance of the UMNO/BN for the last 52 years, especially the last 28 years, the country has been raped by politicians and their cronies. You know how arrogant they are, let us have look. 1. They are extending the APs to 2015 ! They are giving themselves free money. This is daylight robbery. We are talking big bucks, billions from the rakyat (including Malays) 2. The taxes and duties on cars continue to be high to protect Proton but we the public pay through our nose. If the PR government comes into power we can expect prices to drop by at least 50% for imported cars. Why are we paying these cronies our hard earned money so that they can drive around in their new and latest Ferraris, BMWs etc. 3. Have you noticed that they appoint themselves to high paying jobs and positions where they can also earn additional side income. Again these side income run into billions. 4. The Accountant General reported that RM 28B was wasted by you know who and for who. These figures probably do not involve the highly secretive arms contracts which run into billions. 5. Look at the way they snatched the Perak State government. 6. Look at the way they treated Teoh Beng Hock. 7. Look at the way they are trying to get Anwar. 8. Look at the Lingam's Royal Commission. 9. Look at the PKFZ delaying tactics, get one report after another, and then another and if necessary another and then only the small fish get caught and hauled to Court. What a way to fool us? Either they are stupid or we are stupid. The abuse and cheating has been going on for far too long. Only you and I and together with all Malaysians who care can stop them. Between now and the next General Elections we have to campaign now as if the GE is just 6 months from now. Not only do we campaign, we must get our friends to get others and others to do the same. Let us not be fooled again and again. Please start now, if 10 of us can each get 10 we will have 100 and if each of the hundred gets 10 we will have 1000. If we keep going, we will reach more than 10M active Malaysians to force a change. This is a legacy we must give our children/grandchild ren, they deserve better. The alternative is too horrendous to look at. Look at Indonesia , Japan , S. Korea and Taiwan , all their old and corrupt parties have been replaced, Malaysia is next. What Independence ? On this August 31st, we shall celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the British leaving our country. I did not say we are celebrating the 52nd anniversary of our independence. This is because our people have not enjoyed real liberty, democracy or justice. Without liberty, democracy or justice there is no independence. . In these 52 years the oppressive rule of a foreign colonial master has been replaced by the oppressive rule of a local master... The rule with an iron fist. They use the same instruments of oppression as the British did. They use the ISA, the Sedition Act, the Printing Press & Publications Act and detention without trial. The freedom of assembly, the freedom of expression and the freedom to live a life of dignity free from fear and oppression are illusions. In these 52 years the yoke of a foreign colonial master has been replaced by the yoke of a local master. They use the same policy of "divide and rule". They survive by feeding off racialism. They survive by fostering divisiveness. They survive by preaching religious intolerance. What Teoh Beng Hock died for Malaysians will not know real independence, will not be free and will not enjoy democracy unless this oppressive regime is thrown out. They must be thrown out just like Teoh Beng Hock was thrown out from the 14th floor of the MACC office. We must not forget Teoh Beng Hock. We must not forget what he stood for. More importantly, we must not forget what he died for. He lived to help Malaysians in the struggle against corruption and oppression. He died so that our struggle can live. He died fighting for justice. What Justice? Without justice we cannot say we have liberty or democracy or equal rights. We cannot say we have liberty or freedom when Tamil schools have no tables and chairs. When in Sabah and Sarawak , schools have no electricity. A child that is illiterate is not free. We cannot say we have democracy or equal rights for women, when a Chinese girl with 9A1s cannot enter a university.. A girl without a job has no rights. We cannot say we have freedom of choice when a man cannot feed his family. A starving man has no choice. Liberty , democracy and freedom are meaningless words when there is no justice. Justice is political liberty. Justice is economic independence. Justice is equality. There is no political liberty when you vote out of fear. There is no economic independence when you give your support out of fear your son's scholarship will be withdrawn or your license will be withdrawn. There is no freedom of choice when you elect a party out of fear for your contract or your business. This is what has been happening in these 52 years and this will continue if we do not act. There will be many more Teoh Beng Hocks and many more Port Klang Free Zones if we do not stop them. What One Malaysia ? Najib says he wants One Malaysia. Teoh Beng Hock's death has shocked us back to reality. We cannot just listen to rhetoric. We must look at the deeds. When we look, we see what has been done, is a far cry from what has been said. The Perak government has been stolen from its people. Najib has now declared his intention to grab the Selangor government. The MACC is a tool. It is used to de-stabilize the Pakatan Rakyat government. Teoh Beng Hock was interrogated throughout the night. He was grilled for buying RM2,400 worth of Malaysian flags. No one has been grilled when PKFZ loss RM12.6 billion. The MACC officers are raiding the Pakatan Exco members'office so often they are becoming fixtures. Cars and cows and Malaysian flags have become a fixation of the MACC. MACC has not shown the same enthusiasm when it comes to BN assemblymen who used up their annual allocation of RM500,000 in 2 months before the general elections. The MACC has also not shown any interest in the trips by the former chief minister and his family to study the river system in Disney Land .. There is no investigation into how the former chief minister can afford to purchase a multi-million ringgit mansion that is beyond the means of a chief minister's salary. Barisan Nasional machinery is now on the move. Books attacking Anwar Ibrahim and Khalid Ibrahim are being distributed. The authors of these books are sowing the seeds of hatred and contempt. They desecrate the Hindu's sacred cow in a protest filled with bigotry. They protestagainst a Hindu temple built 150 years ago when the area was a plantation that today, just like its devotees, the estate workers, had been left behind by development. They have forgottenMuslims were invited to practice their religion amongst the people of Yathrib. They are beating the drums of race and religion and the tone is becoming harsher with each beat. The people must now decide. There cannot be any fence sitters. There is no middle ground. When Teoh Beng Hock was thrown out, the people of Malaysia was thrown together with him into the sea of political troubles. Whether Malaysia will sink or swim is now up to the people. The people must decide once and for all what is right and what is wrong. There cannot be a neutral ground. Dante said: "The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis." Today in Malaysia there is no place for neutrality. Malaysians must make their choice now. If we want to know what is evil and what is right, we must use our moral compass. It is only when we know the direction where justice lies can we know where we must stand. Do we want to choose liberty and justice which are always right or do we want to choose corruption, hatred, arrogance and oppression which are always wrong? The choice is clear. Every Malaysian must make his stand. When you stand for liberty we stand with you. Iwant to tell you that when you stand for liberty, we will stand with you. When you defend democracy, we will be your shield. When you fight for justice, we will be your sword. We will always be with you. They assaulted *Anwar Ibrahim. *They threw him in jail for 6 long years.. They call him a traitor and worse. But Anwar will always be here to fight for you. They hounded and harassed *Lim Kit Siang. *They detained him in Kamunting.. But Lim Kit Siang will always be here to stand by you. They attacked *Tok Guru Nik Aziz *and tried to humiliate him. But Tok Guru Nik Aziz will always be here to protect you. We have been tested. They have thrown everything they have at us but we are still standing and we are still here. We were here in November 2007 when a sea of yellow marched for a free and fair election. This was *BERSIH*. We were here in December when thousands in orange marched for equality. This was *Makal Sakthi*.This was the ripple that started the tsunami. Barisan Nasional was swept out of 5 states. Since then Barisan Nasional has become more extreme in their policies. They have become more brutal with the people. When we Hope So on 1st August, the lovers of justice and liberty marched again.. Again Barisan Nasional responded with violence and brutality. 638 people including women and children were arrested. Despite the police shutting down the city, despite the many road blocks and barricades, despite the arrest of those wearing black, the number who succeeded in gathering far exceeded my expectations. But the size of the gathering cannot be bigger than my hope for Malaysia . My hope is for every one that braved the tear gas and water cannons there will be many thousands more. We want hundreds of thousands to march with us. We will march from under the shadow of fear into the light of justice. My hope is that the flame burning in each who gathered that day will kindle the hearts and minds of many thousands more. Malaysianswill find the courage to standup for principles and convictions. We must stand up for what is right. This is my hope and this is the hope of all Malaysians. Truth, love and justice will prevail over the forces of hate and oppression. This will only happen when the silent majority refuses to remain silent anymore. This will only happen when the voice of the majority is finally heard. We must be confident that oppression and corruption cannot endure. We must take comfort that truth and justice will always prevail. But this can only be achieved if we fight for it. We must fight today for a better tomorrow. Looking Back in the Future Do not let our children look back and say that these are dark days. Let them say that these are great days. These are the most glorious days that our country ever had. These days will be remembered as the days when we were called, we answered. We stood up. We stood together shoulder to shoulder irrespective of race or religion. We fought and we prevailed. Each of us played our part according to our strengths. Our children and their children will look back on these days and celebrate it as the days we became *ONE NATION*.. These days will be etched in our Nation's history as the days we won over injustice and oppression. These will be the days we celebrate *THE TRUE MERDEKA.* Thank you, Xie xie , vanakam... Have a blessed day. ............ ......... ......... .......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... .......... TOMALAYSIANS OF ALL RACES...IT'S TIME TO STAND UP AGAINST CORRUPTION ! IT'S TIME TO STAND UP FOR JUSTICE AND TRUTHS ! IT'S TIME TO FIGHT FOR OUR TRUE MERDEKA ! PLEASE CIRCULATE... THANKS |
With the cost of living and thousands of Hawaiian families still being forced to move to the US every year, we are depleting our greatest natural resource for aloha.
As Hawaiians lose their young to hopelessness and despair and moving away, aloha is in trouble.
Greed, selfishness and simply using these islands to allow foreigners to make millions of dollars off our people are western concepts and have no place in Hawai`i.
It's bad enough a so called great country like the USA creates these legal definitions of what is or isn't considered "native Hawaiian" or "Native Hawaiian" or just "Hawaiian" by which all 3 plus the other more indigenous terms seem to define and redefine all of us, but to have others, outsiders, those who aren't familiar with who we are and our culture to constantly use some if not all or none of those terms I mentioned as well as any other criteria in their little minds as they see fit to define who we are.
It's always the result of seeing who our ancestors were, get a glimpse of our history, and what little inaccurate info. they receive from the media and somehow incorporate all of that to form an opinion, or use that as a criteria defining who we are, or how much we are what they feel we should be or isn't.
The most annoying part of this is that they will always believe that they are right, and that only they know the truth, that only they can be correct and that we aren't intelligent enough to know. And these people can use anything in the book, whatever info. they can gather on their own and try to analyze it in their own way or worse, make comparisons to something not related to our culture or our people and use that to form their own opinion.
Case in point would be Ken Conklin. Without going into details, he has used what little he knows of our culture, language and history and twists it to suit his own needs. Then he takes advantage of people who don't have the time to research on their own and spread these lies about us. Basically de-Hawaiianizing us, creating this idea that due to our past, we have become racists against Haoles. Of course he does this by preaching EQUALITY (a concept to many that means ALL FOR THE HAOLE, not really equal for all people) and begin to present examples that showed where Haole people (for the most part, if not trying to point out for other ethnicities too) have been disenfranchised by Hawaiians or Hawaiian programs, etc.
But it's the same concept because he is quantifying us. In his mind, if he can prove that quantifying Hawaiians, (to a lesser degree for the most part & a term he likes to use is "ethnic Hawaiian" , as oppose to non-ethnic Hawaiians) if not by blood, then by culture or any other means, then he validates why other non-ethnic-Hawaiians should have a right to live in the islands.
People will have their reasons for quantifying us. Ken Conklin does it to validate why he should have an equal share of using the islands for his own recreational use. "thotsins" whom I mentioned in my last post did it to Popolo-ize us, plus he was offended at me calling him out about co-opting biblical people as his own people & their culture. I mean, the list goes on and on.
If you have any examples as to why you were quantified, please share it with me. I should write a damn book about it, I bet that would make money. Hey, the Haole way, I should take advantage of that.
Without going into too much detail about thotsins & his reasons for creating a lot of videos about Oceanic people in general, talks of "Cushitic" people & co-opting of African cultures, I'd like to focus on what he says in his comments, after I had a number of discussions with him in the past, he decided to re-post them under his comments and answer it for the public to see, taking my genealogy from whatever info. he could muster up on the web in an attempt to paint a particular picture of me.
But he writes about my ancestress named Kaauamo and decides to do something that may be familiar to others here on MW when people try to deface kupuna, and he says that Kaauamo was mixed herself. He says further that this process is assimilation when foreigners absorb the culture (referring to Kaauamo's Pake husband), which he claims wipes out the culture slowly by passing it on to foreigners. In other words, he's saying that, in his eyes, we aren't "pure", which is a Haole concept which I've mentioned too many times, and because of that, we are a product of foreigner and we (not the pure ones) are the ones who keep the culture.
So this is his video of HIS "American" or "Haole" concept of educating people as to what our people should look like.
Just two weeks ago I had an ignorant Filipina quantify my Filipinoness, diminishing it in order to make herself look good. Odd that should happen to me because most people try to minimize my Hawaiianness or at the same time maximize my Filipinoness. But the reasoning for that is always, and I mean ALWAYS the same. And that is to prove to others how little or how much a person is of their mixed or "other" heritage. Basically they're quantifying according to their own needs.
Forget about how much Hawaiians are constantly quantified, if not by these idiots like thotsins, or by each other (other Hawaiians) and the same applies to other indigenous people. But rather, why aren't HAOLES quantified? Why aren't people saying how little or how much Haole one has? Is everyone else's perception that the world would turn out all Haole? People seem to minimize in quantity our 'Oiwi ancestry, never how much Haole we are becoming or how much Asian we are becoming. WHY?
Why can't anyone talk about how Haoles are becoming more Haole or non-Haoles are becoming more Haole and how little Haole one may have or what privileges Haoles have and becoming more Haole may or may not change that status?
People like thotsins will always feel that they know exactly what is a _______ (insert appropriate ethnicity) based on their own fucked up logic, whether it was induced by a Haole or American system or not. But their purpose for doing that is to justify in their own mind, that they are the benefactors of either some type of compensation (if not trying to remove such a thing from us) or some type of credibility when it comes to facts & education and that only they, those that are more Haolefied understand facts & evidence and that we're too uneducated to know these things.

New TribeRising?
By Patrick J. Buchanan
"Is white the new black?"
So asks Kelefa Sannehin the
subtitle of "Beyond the Pale," his New Yorker review of several books on
white
America, wherein he concludes we may be witnessing "the slow birth of a
people."
Sanneh is onto something. For after a year of batteringas
"un-American,
" "evil-doers" and racists, and praise from talk-show hosts
and Sarah Palin as "the real Americans," Tea Party America seems to be
taking on
a new and separate identity.
Ethnonationalism -- the recognitionof an
embryonic people that they are different from their neighbors, and the
concomitant drive to live apart -- is, as Arthur Schlesinger Jr. wrote
20 years
ago, a more powerful force than any ideology, be it communism, fascism
or
democracy.
Ethnonationalism is the pre-eminent force of the agewe have
entered, the creator and destroyer of empires and nations. Even as
Schlesinger
was writing his "Disuniting of America," Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union
were
disintegrating into 22 new nations, along the lines of ethnicity. In
Dagestan,
Ingushetia, Chechnya, Ossetia and Abkhazia, the process proceeds
apace.
It has happened before -- and here.
In the American
colonies, the evil institution of slavery, followed by a century of
segregation,
created out of the children of captured Africans who had little in
common other
than color a new people, the African-Americans, who went out and voted
24-to-one
for Barack Obama.
In 1754, the 13 colonies consisted of SouthCarolinians, New Yorkers, Pennsylvanians and Virginians, all loyal
subjects of
the king.
But after the contemptuous treatment of colonialsoldiers in
the French and Indian War, the Stamp Act, the Townshend duties, the
Boston
Massacre, the Tea Party, the Quartering Act and the Quebec Act, by 1775 a
new
people had been born: the Americans.
In 1770, New York colonistshad
erected a statue of George III in Bowling Green in grateful tribute for
his
repeal of the Townshend taxes. In July 1776, they pulled it down and
melted it
for lead bullets after Washington read his soldiers the Declaration of
Independence portraying George III as another Ivan the Terrible.
"There
is no such thing as a Palestinian people," said Golda Meir. When she
said it,
she may have been right. But as generations have grown up under the
occupation
and two intifadas and a Gaza War, the Palestinians are a people
today.
Adversity and abuse increase the awareness of separateidentity
and accelerate the secession of peoples from each other.
Obama inthe
campaign of 2008 recognized that "out there" in Middle America existed
another
country, far from the one he grew up in, far from the privileged Ivy
League
community to which he belonged.
"You go into some of these smalltowns in
Pennsylvania, and ... the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. ... So
it's not
surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or
antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or
anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
Palin
and Tea Partiers now repeat Obama's disparaging line about their
clinging to
Bibles and guns -- with defiant pride.
As others have done in our
multicultural and multiethnic nation, this people is beginning to assert
its
identity, unapologetically.
Sioux gather at Little Bighorn tocelebrate
the massacre of Custer's command. Hawaiian natives demand a new
ethnically based
government -- and receive Obama's blessing. Hispanics march under
Mexican flags
in Los Angeles to demand citizenship for illegal aliens.
NowSoutherners
are proudly commemorating ancestors who fought and fell in the Lost
Cause and
demanding recognition of Confederate History Month. And state governors
are
acceding.
In 2004, when Howard Dean reached out to "guys withConfederate
flags in their pickup trucks," Shelby Steele wrote that this was
"absolutely
verboten. Racial identity is simply forbidden to whites in America"
because of
their history and white guilt.
This, Sanneh suggests, ischanging. The
imputation of racism to Tea Partiers has not intimidated or cowed
them.
When Obama named Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, there was no
hesitation in blistering her for showing contempt for the rights of
Frank Ricci
and the white firefighters of New Haven, cheated of the promotions they
had won
in competitive exams.
When black Harvard professor Henry LouisGates was
arrested by Cambridge cop James Crowley, most Americans, despite Obama
and media
suggestions of racial profiling, sided with Crowley.
Why are theTea
Partiers not intimidated the way Republicans often are? Why is the
charge of
racism not working?
First, they do not feel the guilt ofcountry-club
Republicans.
Second, they know it to be untrue. While TeaPartiers are
anti-Obama, they are also anti-Pelosi, anti-Martha Coakley and
anti-Charlie
Christ. The coming conflict is not so much racial as it is cultural,
political
and tribal.
Black America seems united. White America is thehouse
divided, for it is in the womb of white America that this new people is
gestating and fighting to be born.

KAHEA
Aloha ,
In response to our call (along with hundreds of you!) for a full audit of finances on Mauna Kea, the University of Hawai'i is working with a few lawmakers to water down our resolution at the legislature to a weak promise to audit themselves.
Just a few seconds to take a stand for just and fair action for Mauna Kea's future!

Self-audit? We don't think so. After all, what's a state audit without the State Auditor? Telescopes on the mountain are rented out for upwards of $150,000 per night. In return the people of Hawai'i receive $1/year or less in lease rent.
Mauna Kea is our public land. Please tell legislators to throw out the watered down UH version of our audit resolutions (HR226 HD1/HR 311 HD1 and SR 118 SD 1/SCR 227 SD 1) and RESTORE the orignal, strong language (click here to read the original House resolutions and original Senate resolutions)! Today, in the midst of our economic crisis in Hawai'i--as schools struggle to get kids back in classrooms for a full school week--UH is evading a call for a simple audit on how millions of dollars are being earned and used by some of the wealthiest institutions and nations in the world for their telescopes on Mauna Kea.
We know that:
- The law requires fair market rent be paid for all leases of "ceded" public trust land, like Mauna Kea (HRS 171). To assess fair market rent, an financial audit is required.
- Artifically low--$1/year--rent has for 40 years accelerated desecration and destruction of summit resources, with little or no transparency or accountability.
- If proper rent been paid over just the last ten years--the state would have collected $500 million dollars--which is almost one-half of the current state budget shortfall.
You can make a difference today! Just a few seconds to click and send your critically-needed testimony and get these important resolutions back on track at the state legislature. Mahalo!

Aloha,
We have the opportunity right now to create positive and lasting change at the State Historic Preservation Division with HCR 50.
We only have 3 days left to make this happen. We humbly ask you please send an email or make a call in support of HCR 50.
Resolution HCR 50 requests a managerial audit of the State Historic Preservation Division. The audit calls for an objective evaluation of SHPD so
measures can be enacted to correct the deficiencies and to assess if other legislation needs to be enacted to strengthen the protection and preservation
of our sacred sites and our na iwi kupuna. The passage of this resolution, and the audit it enacts, will help pave the way for the community to begin to trust
and believe a healthy and properly functioning SHPD is possible.
A Community Forum was held last Wednesday, April 14th and issues raised by community members at the forum continually highlighted and revealed the lack of
proper management and decision making at the administrative level of SHPD. The lack of funding and staff cannot be used as excuses by the SHPD Administrator SHPO Deputy.
We need a preservation division in Hawai'i that acts and conducts itself in accordance with the law and what is right for preservation and protection.
Please write an email to support HCR 50 as soon as you can.
