Answer To Kailani

To: KailaniFrom: KawehiAloha e Kailani,This photo of me was taken in 1990 over 20 years ago. The one with the red on was taken last year. Yes the bone I am wearing represents a sperm of life, Maori style. I was given that to me by my cousins in my first visit to Aotearoa. I am planning to go back there soon for a short visit and to talk about Hawaiian independence. You may also want to go to website: "hawaiiankingdom.org" for more education about Hawai'i and the case spoken about in the Hawaii case in the news article you made mention of.Sorry I have to respond this way, somehow, I am not able to comment on the other venue. If there is anything you would like to know and that I can help with, I will. Until then, keep meditating and think positive for us to puka through with the restoration of our government.Onipa'a,Kawehi.

Keao NeSmith noticed a curious thing – the Hawaiian spoken by native speakers is different than that being taught in schools, and he wanted to know why. What happens when a language dies? Is the Hawaiian taught in schools really that different from Hawaiian spoken by native speakers? It took Keao writing a breakthrough Master’s thesis to find out. In our visit, Keao separates fact from fiction, and explains why the history of our islands comes alive every time Hawaiian is spoken

KAUA`I LANDOWNER GETS OK TO BUILD HOUSE OVER HAWAIIAN GRAVES

By Associated Press

LIHUE - A landowner on Kauai has received state permission to build his house atop 30 ancient Hawaiian graves.

The approval of Joseph Brescia's 16th draft of his burial treatment plan by the State Historic Preservation Division came this week, after it was rejected by the Kauai/Niihau Island Burial Council.

Division Administrator Pua Aiu said the 16th draft provides "adequate protection" to the burials. She cited concrete caps over a number of them and special vertical buffers for one burial that sits under the spot that will one day be the home's driveway.

The state's decision is opposed by Hawaiian cultural practitioner Puanani Rogers, who called it "outrageous."

Blessings

As a human, I am feeling very blessed to be brought to where I am in my life. I am a true believer that all things happen to be a lesson in or lives. As a spiritual being, I feel immensely blessed to be given the lessons that I have been honored to receive. I have been given many gifts hard and beautiful to help me understand my meaning of purpose of my existence. So, for all of you who have been, will be, a part of my growth and the beauty of my life, I thank you from the very deepest of my soul. I feel I am getting closer to finding what my heart desires most.....Finding family:) My mother is always with me even though she is not here physically and she has slowly guided me as I could handle and understand. I desperately would like to learn of my heritage, If anyone would like to share stories, I would be forever grateful.

Many blessings,
Paula

Protest at OHA from now until JUSTICE!

CONTINUED PRESS RELEASE of March 5, 2010
IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

March 11, 2010

We will be at the OHA tomorrow morning at 7:30, and every Friday thereafter, protesting that OHA follow the law. Bring your pahu, signs, chairs and mea'ai. This effort is being made on behalf of our iwi kupuna, na opio and led by, Robert Oliveira Jr. and Kaleo Farias. Kaleo Farias will be broadcasting the protest with intermittent interviews of Hawaiian leaders and their concerns of the desecration of our iwi kupuna by the Army and the State, on Hawaii TV Live at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/hawaii-tv from 7 to 9 am.

OHA is failing in their fiduciary duty to protect our iwi kupuna, na opio and our sacred National treasures. After last weeks protest, OHA sided with the lineal descendents giving notice to the US Army to stop any activities conducted in Makua wahipana due to Army excavations and the lack of consultation. Due to OHA's lack of implementing the law, we will be protesting and reaffirming our notice of protest every Friday.

Ohana, we appreciate you coming out this and every Friday to protest and protect our iwi kupuna and na opio, until OHA follows the law. 'Io lako and mahalo.

AKAKA BILL HEARINGS IN HAWAI`I CALLED FOR

AKAKA BILL HEARINGS IN HAWAI`I CALLED FORHonolulu Star-Bulletin - February 25, 2010Gov. Linda Lingle's reversal of her long-standing support for the Akaka Bill indicates how fundamentally the Hawaiian sovereignty measure has changed over the course of this Congressional session.Any future attempts to pass the measure -- assuming the current bill dies in the Senate, as is now predicted even by many supporters -- should include full public hearings in Hawaii to explain why the 2010 version is so different from the versions that have preceded it since 2000.The measure, which would grant federal recognition to native Hawaiians, has been approved three times by the House since then, but never by the Senate...."...This structure will, in my opinion, promote divisiveness and litigation, rather than negotiation and resolution," the governor said. "I do not believe such a structure, of two completely different sets of rules -- one for 'governmental' activities of the native Hawaiian governing entity and its officers and employees, and one for everyone else -- makes sense for Hawaii."Hawaiian nationalists also oppose the bill, albeit for different reasons. They say native Hawaiians who support it are being duped into relinquishing their inherent sovereignty as descendants of the independent Hawaiian kingdom overthrown by U.S. interests. To them, federal recognition is a land grab disguised as recompense. That the opposition includes such diverse points of view is further evidence that the Akaka Bill needs a full airing before rising again.
