I am looking for a supplier of authentic hawaiian made kapa, I need it to be very fine, i will be using it as a surface for my future paintings, it will be stretched the same way canvas is stretched so it may require diagonal layering to make it strong in all directions.
It was blue only because it was wet, when it dried it was black. The Hilikukui is first then after dried, immersed in the lo'i. This was done back in 1984 at the lo'i Kanewai, Manoa.
great color uncle! i didnt try the lo'i mud with 'uki'uki yet... only with kukui...i didnt know it turns black from the blue too...have to call it the bruisins' color!
