This is a comment to the picture "A nation within". It is true that it was our nation's flag and it is still the flag of the de facto government. Flying it upside down is a good signal to the world indicating that we are aware of the distress of the nation. The problem with flying only the official flag right side up is that even the enemies of Hawaiian independence are flying it on their businesses or hypocritical events. Therefore we are flying it with the green/red/yellow kanaka maoli flag which was once a maritime flag, but through history became the flag of Hawaiian solidarity, sovereignty and independence. Remember flags have different lives through history. The more of these flags are displayed the more freedom-loving people will join our ranks.
aloha pono,
this is lynette. i am working on a project where i need a young person (preferably a student, but not necessarily) to illustrate a story. there's an honorarium involved. it should be someone who understands a bit of our history. know anyone? someone who can do cartoons or other kinds of graphics will do. we want to tell a story and we want someone to draw it. we're gearing up for the so-called statehood action, so need to get started asap. let me know! mahalo.
Aloha Joanne:
I pray all's well with you. I'm still caught up with things and when they are done, I'll be able to spent more time communicating. Till then, God bless and take care. It's good to hear from you. ttyl.
