Although I've been around surfers all my life, my ex-husband was a blonde haired blue-eyed surfer from California, I respect the talent and the culture of my native people in the art of surfing. I instead strive to preserve surf spots from Pololu Valley to Kawaihae Shoreline ie: Lighthouse here on the northpoint which as a kid I would walk with friends to the point and watch my cousins and friends ride HUGE sets; Kapanaia again here in Kohala for the most skilled point surfers and my latest in courthouse battle (March, 2008) of a contested case with DLNR on a CDUA permit filed by Massachusettes financier who wants to build his vacation mansion off the point of PAO'O here in Kohala District aka: "Secrets" Surfspot. My nonprofit is Maika'i Kamakani 'O Kohala and with the assistance of NHLC and expert witness and local users, I will continue to fight to preserve the coastline of Kohala for not only surfers but also for gathering rights of food ie: fishing, netting, diving, and other recreational activities aside from preservation of historic site which are many on our coastline.

Aloha surfers united,
I'm researching the Hawaiian place names for Waikiki breaks. Does anybody know the Hawaiian names for Pops, Paradise or Threes? Mahalo...

Over here on the Big Island, going to head to Kawa`a tomorrow, should be some swell down South if the trades are blowing. Haven't been down there for a year or so anybody know whats been going on?

LOVE the ocean! More like the fishing/boating aspect! Anyways, we like to go Sandbar once a month -- want to meet up? I really appreciate the Manatad `Ohana for helping preserve the area & keep it clean! MALAMA & MAHALO!
