    Yes, all precontact Tapa was done by handpainting. This Tapa was made in Kalapana back in 1988 and used in our pageant in Los Angeles. No ohekapala till after the introduction of metal tools for carving bamboo. I will add examples of precontact Tapa on my photo album. http://www.lomihawaii.com
