    Aloha e Mahealani,

    How synchronous to open your flickr and see a land snail. Just yesterday Mark and I went to hear a friend of ours talk at the Academy of Arts, Leland Miyano, and he had many slides of land snails. They were his first love as a child. He says so many of them have gone extinct. It was very moving the way he spoke of them, not only for themselves but for what they represent of the ecology of the islands. He has an art show now there at the Academy that attempts to capture this sense of loss. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me, I do love your photos. Hope to see you sometime soon. Mark's sister is here from New Mexico with her two boys, plus Lori's 3 boys and 2 other nephews, we are having a party every day. Good fun! Any time you want to come over to Kailua, e komo mai.
