  • Mahalonuiloa Kaohi, for your encouraging and loving words. Yes, Mau has touched the lives of many. You are so fourtunate to have connected with him at such an intimate level. Because of the knowledge that he shared, Kaua'i is about to have it's own voyaging canoe, the Namahoe . The Namahoe will be an extention of Na Kupuna that bridges the past with the present. Knowlege , wisdom and skills will be passed on to our children and grandchildren as it is their inherited rights.

My only concern is that of pseudo·scien·tist who's interests is to learn the secrets of our ancestors. Unfourtunately their presence on and around our wa'a have made an impact on the ammount of knowledege and practice passed on to our oiwi. We need to keep their kumu on track and remind them of their responsibility to educate na oiwi, before passing any cultural knowledege on to foriegn persons. Mahalo for sharing your thoughts,I do enjoy our coversations. I so wish that you and Pono could join us! Thank you Pono for passing on the info.
  • I passed on the info and wish I could go ;)
  • Aloha,

Just wanted to say Hi! It was so good to hear your voice yesterday. Mau has been in my heart for awhile now and I'm doing what I can from here in Waianae for the world tour.

Women was always Mau's spiritual vessal and I am proud to say that we connected on that level. Had I not ventured into that energy I would not have the view point as well as the sights of the past and how it all connects across Koolaupoko's landscape. Thanks to Mau giving me his attention across the dinning table, I would have missed my 'ohana's' connection to their universe.

Mau was such a giving person that all my questions to him was taken seriously. So, I am very fortunate that he came into my life and when the need was at it's greatest.

I assisted Master Tuinei Puloto in building a double canoe for months and that experience still grows in my daily life thanks to Mau. May your children all become not just part of the world tour but part of my great grandchildrens life too. For our children are the extention of our Na Kupuna and their wisdom. Love you much
