HC8400 Hawaiian Kapa Techniques - 24 HoursStudents will engage in hands-on learning about Hawaiian Kapa, including Wauke (paper mulberry) cultivation, tool making (niho `oki or shark's tooth knife), (`ohe kapala or bamboo stamp), the two stages of kapa beating, gathering and making dyes (waiho`olu`u), dying and printing. Materials and tools are provided although students may bring own tools if they have, i.e., exacto and utility knives.
