UNDERSTANDING BOTH VERSIONS OF THE AKAKA BILL

U.S. Congressman Neil Abercrombie is reassuring Kanaka Maoli supporters of the Akaka Bill that he will try to push for the "beefed up" Senate version of the bill (S. 1011, which was newly amended and passed by the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs on December 17, 2009) instead of H.R. 2314 (which passed in the House Committee on Natural Resources on December 16, 2009). But the fact remains there there are TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE BILL on the table for the proposed legislation: The Native… Continue

PRO-INDEPENDENCE TALKING POINTS ON THE AKAKA BILL

The Akaka Bill legislation, first introduced in the U.S. Congress in 2000 and now before Congress in two different bills (H.R. 2314 and S. 1011), proposes that the U.S. Government recognize a “Native Hawaiian governing entity” that is to be certified by the U.S. Department of the Interior in conformity with U.S. federal law and practice regarding Native American tribal nations. Why support a federally driven bill that serves both the state's interests and wraps things up for the federal… Continue

Aloha Kakou....

I have enjoyed reading your analyses of the various American attempts to make legal that which will always be illegal and can only be resolved by dealing with the real reinstated representative government of the injured party....the Kanaka Maoli.  I believe we are moving forward through education of our own people as well as the rest of the world toward that end...only we ourselves can recognize ourselves for what we really are.

Aloha,

I'm on Big Island, we are about to enter the Nuclear Regulatory Commission videoconference on Jan13, 2010 (will be on live) at Hilo University. Wed. 8 am 361 above the UH library.

I want to stop the bombing in Hawaii and say no to License and permitting. Their bombing spreads depleted uranium through out Hawaii. It is wind swept across our Pacifica. DU causes DNA induced mutation and birth defects for many generations. Kaohi

Aloha Kehaulani,
Just stopped by to say Aloha, it's been a long time. I loved the photos, some were new to me. Your makua is beautiful, I see you both have the same smile. Miss you & Jason, but winter is not for me. I've been trying to find a place to host a luau for us(Pineapples & Coconuts) so we can share a percentage for the Walk Home group. So far I haven't had much luck any ideas? Malama e pono to you & yours. Aloha kaua a hui hou Roselani
