Koani Foundation Director Kai`opua Fyfe is a globe-trotter in the true sense, going wherever needed to advance the cause of a Free Hawai`i.
And that usually means the United Nations several times a year, either in New York City or Geneva, Switzerland.
Recently Anne O’Malley of For Kaua`i sat down with Kai`opua during one of those increasingly rare times for him – relaxing at home – to get the full, behind-the-scenes story of his mission.
What she discovered is Kai`opuaʻs dedication to furthering the vision of Koani founder John Butch Kekahu in making the world aware of the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom government and illegal US occupation ever since.
She also found something else – Kai`opuaʻs relentless work and focus to position the cause of a Free Hawai`i on the world stage through alliances and collaboration not only with other Hawaiian activists, but indigenous peoples around the world.

And speaking of furthering a cause, Oliver Dukelow of Maui is a one-man mission for sustainability.

“The Natural Things – A Visit with Oliver Dukelow"
Oliver Dukelow has done lots of things in his lifetime, but none so satisfying as growing taro. It’s where he grows it that took our breath away – amidst the stunning beauty of Maui’s Kahakuloa valley. He’s doing it off the grid, with no modern power or electricity, the same way it was done for thousands of years in old Hawai`i. Join us in our amazing visit with Oliver & discover a place & way of life you won’t soon forget – Watch It Here
