Laie Kuleana landowners occupy their ancestral land and burial site.Today 4am-to- tomorrow 4am 24HOUR KU'EWe need people to come this morning 4 am, all day and take a stand with us until tomorrow morning.Where? Kamehameha Highway and Cackle Fresh Store, go mauka a quarter of a mile, you will see the camp.Last night we had an irate woman by the name of Roxie Apuakehau from the Mormon church attempt to stop the posting of our fence. She grabbed the poles and tried to shake and pull it out of the ground.Earlier we picketed in front of the Laie Shopping Center near Hawaii Reserves Incorporated (HRI)the Mormon real property management company after which we chanted "HRI get off our land." Kekela Miller a Hawaiian woman, employee of HRI came and attempted to chant and choked on the words of Kupunabecause she knew what HRI is doing to Kuleana landowners is HEWA.Our 'olelo and leo, our Hawaiian words and voices are so KAPU that when we speak the truth they choke on their words.HRI called in their groundkeeping staff all Pacific Islanders to intimidate us but failed while Jace McQuivey, the legal counsel for HRI hid in the office and bobbing back and forth to see what was going on.McQuivey was responsible for Kupuna's being pepper sprayed with the support as high as the Mayor Mufi Hannemann. If you look at Hannemann's history he has been supportive of any developments in Laie by the Mormon entities when he was acouncil member to his current position and his hopes for the governorship. This is an assault on our Hawaiian people.Contact numbers 852-8778/692-6901/348-1312email: laiekupuna@yahoo.comDawn K. Wasson, Kupuna o LaiewaiANTHONY P. LOGRIGGHIOATTORNEY AT LAWDecember 28, 2009 HAND DELIVERYRe: Request for immediate investigation and assurance of no interferenceand physical attacks by Police Department in a civil matter.Dear Chief Kealoha,This letter will request an immediate investigation into the conduct of a 40member police "swat force". On the day after Christmas they attackedwithout provocation a group of Kupuna, who are land owners of the subjectproperty, and a minor child who were acting in required blockage of abuseof adverse possession land they own. The land is attempting to be claimedby the Mormon Church. The Church, we allege, used its authority overpolice officers to violate the civil rights of Hawaiian land owners. Theextreme misuse of unnecessary forced that sent three Kupuna to the hospitalemergency appears to have been in retaliation of the Hawaiians assertingthere rights against the Mormon Church. The eldest member of the group is75 years of age and is near death from serious illness. He was released fromthe hospital 2 days before he was viciously, punitively attacked by yourofficers for no reason.History: The senior lawyer, Chase McQuivey of the Hawaii MormonChurch, sought successfully to enlist the involvement of the Honolulu PoliceDepartment in a civil matter in stopping the efforts of the Hawaiian landowners from blocking access to land they claim under deed and title. The power of the Mormon Church in Hawaii does not allow it to violate thelaw and cause physical injury to the elderly. The owners of the land seekimmediate ruling from you that your department will not again attack theKupuna when they return to immediately block access to their land locatedon a private road. This dispute must be handled in Civil Court, and not byforce of your Police Department in shamelessly attacking old people andsending them to the hospital, and arresting them under shame and illegalgrounds at the direction and request of the powerful Mormon Church. You have stated that under your leadership the Police Department willchange. This we believe is the first public test of that commitment, and wecome to you for resolution and protection because of that promise.903 MAUNAWILI CIRCLE, KAILUA, HAWAII 96734 • PHONE (808) 261-8372 • FAX (808) 261-7733 • CELL (808) 780-9823E-MAIL: tony96734@yahoo.com
