The United States acquired Hawai`i through force.
Queen Lili`uokalani, Hawai`i's last Queen, was deposed on January 17, 1893, by a group of American businessmen supported by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and diplomatic representatives.
Sovereignty of Hawai`i was allegedly transferred to the US on August 12, 1898 during ceremonies at `Iolani Palace in Honolulu, on the island of O`ahu by a small group of foreign business men who called themselves the "committee of safety."
Hawai`i allegedly became a US territory in 1900.
On Nov. 23, 1993, The United States apologized for illegally overthrowing the Kingdom of Hawai`i, and recognized the inherent sovereignty and right of self-determination of native islanders.
Needless to say, a lot of shady events took place between January 17,1893 and August 21, 1959.
There is not one document or shred of evidence to show that any land was transferred or given to the US by the Hawaiian Kingdom.

History Clearly Shows The Hawaiian Nation Wasn't Annexed - It Was Stolen
With respect and Aloha, I have to say that if what you say here was true that the Hawaiian lands were successfully stolen we have a real problem. I realize that it is meant to emphasize the occupation and its oppression, but the land is still where it has always been. The owners are still living and the US title claims are false. For me in my humble opinion the land is only occupied by foreigners who tell us lies about rights they have to our Aina. It is an important point because when we speak about Hawaiian lands in this sense we legitimize the claims of the Americans. We have to fight on the question of whether the land was stolen or not. That is more difficult than the fact that they are trespassing and forcibly removing the owners form their lands. Which is a genocidal act. I think we are better served asking the Americans to renounce violence and the use of threats, intimidation and violence to enforce false claims of ownership. Just my Mana'o.
Cool, and yes!
