Aloha Pono ,
We just sent you an announcement of our exciting spring grant distribution of $26,000.
This is where successful change begins and it's only possible with your support!
Wai, in Hawaiian, is water. Waiwai is wealth, prosperity, abundance.
Hawaii People's Fund can be seen as an irrigation system. Our work is like digging and clearing the streams. Community organizations help guide this work, mapping out where are the best places for connective ditches, the auwai. Together we carve them out.
Collectively, we all need to ensure unimpeded arteries and eliminate challenges
that clog the flow of life forces. We need to make sure that our
resources are equitably distributed, reach the base, and that nothing is wasted.
It's our responsibility to nurture the roots,
not just water the leaves!
Our donors provide the resources for the main reservoir. You keep Hawaii People's Fund flowing! We ask you to consider engaging with us even more powerfully than ever in our collective work to strengthen progressive movements throughout the islands.
Social change is a long process. It requires commitment, patience, collaboration and solidarity. It requires united action at the grassroots level: rising up, insisting on justice and consistently challenging entrenched systems.
A few months ago, I was told I had cancer and needed major surgery. This experience proved to be a great blessing-my perspectives sharpened, my priorities gained clarity, and the depth of my gratitude expanded enormously.
Now I am healing well and cancer-free! My appreciation for community organizing, passionate action and committed stewardship is even stronger. My sense of urgency to build support for our community changemakers is greater than ever.
The power of the people is so awesome!
Hawaii People's Fund builds partnerships with and networks between grassroots community groups working for justice and social change.
It's our philanthropic/activist irrigation system!
If you are able, please take this time to make a donation of any size for a healthy start to our new fiscal year. Help us remain vital.
We can't do this without you!
Thank you so much,
Nancy Aleck, Executive Director
PS If you have contributed recently, we truly appreciate your support! We are a
people's fund, so we absolutely need you, the people! Mahalo.
