Many native Hawaiians who were on Hawaiian Homes got Rehabilitated and moved off their Hawaiian Homes for others to get on Hawaiian Homes!
KAOHI talks of the problems of the Hawaiian Homes in the same manner that the FAKE State does to the Congress! So that Congress can give Millions of Dollars to the "POOR"" native Hawaiians!
KAOHI living on Hawaiian Homes is her CHOICE!
Hawaiian By Blood, American By CHOICE!
We were rehabilitated back on to the land in 1920 with a Daws Act bloodquantum. From my experience living or shall I say growing up on Hawaiian Homestead was not easy. Although the bloodquantum have a land boundaries. The problems outside of the Hawaiian Homestead are what makes anything about native Hawaiian less. Once we entere our boundaries and our home, things are a bit different.
The education when I was growing up were separated A,B,C,D and special class. That is no longer the case with the NCLB. Classes are inclusive and no-child-is-left-behind so to speak. It actually works to a point and a lot has changed since the Goto campaign for English Only standards. Public School class rooms function much more like a private school, except for where they are high populations of native Hawaiians.
The loss of Hawaiian language, the shame, poor economic standing and lots more attribut to low scores. The more assimulated you are the better ones family member will do on standards and benchmarks. A self-decision, family, and community with Hawaiian boundaries are the problem for Native Hawaiians. It is compounding when one adds the badly run DHHL and other network of admins. From my perspective, we who are on DHHL need to determine our own destiny, but I don't see that happening soon. Nothing is a given, it's almost as if one become a leasee with ones had tied behind it's back.
