Does the Congregationalist Church Practice What it Preaches?‏"... Amen I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."                                                                             - Matthew 25: 34-40 Christian Churches uses the Christian Bible and follows the guidelines in it and practices it as believers in what is written in it.  Among the beatitudes wriiten, the Corporal Works of Mercy cited, - Bury the Dead.  The expanded teachings of this beatitude says do not treat the dead with neglect and to show respect for their bodies who have gone before us and build up the dignity of the human person. It is said that even death cannot rob us of our fundamental dignity as human persons.  The burial of the dead honors the children of God, which means ALL human persons who ever existed, who Christians believe are the temples of the Holy Spirit.  Thus, the saying, Rest in Peace".  Burials, whether in a Churchyard cemetary or a secular gravesite, is considered sacred which means sanctity and security of graves.  On the church grounds there is sanctuary and the remains are not treated as rubbish.  Hence, whereverr graves are found, they should be treated with solemn respect and dignity always.  This has been Christian values since Christ preached to the people especially of proper conduct. How we treat our dead is merely an extension of how we deal with the living.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you and love one another as I love you are just a couple of Christ's teachings.  How much of Christ's teachings do Christians follow and practice, living as Christians?  Do we pick and choose what we like and be selective because it fits our agenda? It seems Kawaiaha'o Congregational Church maintains an attitude which sees human life as meaningless beyond the carnal existence and nothing of value once the soul has left the body.  Is this the Christian ideal?  Christ said, "I am the Life and the Ressurection; whosoever believes in me shall not die."   The body and soul will reunite at the Last Judgement.   Do we give the body any less respect than the soul? Does Kekuna, the appointed representative of the Kawaiahao Congregational corporal church, and his followers, rewrite the words of God to suit themselves?   Is there a double-standard practice of "... Do as I say; not what I do!" in their beliefs?  There is the refrain of a beautiful hymn, The Corporal Works of Mercy, " Whatsoever you do to the least of my people; that you do unto me." A word to the wise should be sufficient. Tane

  • ALOHA Kakou,

As Long as native Hawaiians continue to THINK that the American Dream which has been a "HOLOCAUST" to many native Hawaiians and their Ohana, the HEWA at Kawaiahao, OHA and Hawaiian Homes will LIVE ON!

LIVE ON including in the Administration of Governor Abercrombie!  Nothing will change for the native Hawaiian people, only the Faces change!

Pastor Kekuna follows the teaching of the HEWA teaching of his Christian background.  Like a LuLu BELL is knows where the GREED for the OHA GRANTS to take care of him, his Ohana and Corporation!

         Just FOLLOW the Money TRAIL!

For many native Hawaiians knowing the workings of the MONEY TRAIL is their way of life!  They like Kekuna will do any thing and every thing to protect their Blood Quantum and that MONEY TRAIL!

Kekuna should be forced to Resign in Disgrace, if not thrown in Jail!

Beware of the LuLu BELLS at Kawaiahao and their Supporters!  Especially those who say one thing and do others things as Whores!

  • Mahalo Tane,

Coming from a strong Christian background, my mother out of love for her younger children asked me to go to the  'Long Ago' side.  I guess she realized that we needed to know the other part of who we are.  As to why Kekuna opt for a building it seemed that it was done with malice or hiding behind a skirt of falsehood seems more like with what had happened.  That is just one focus.

I am concern because the 'ukana' is left unprotected and they are from 'Long Ago' that can be trashed on the black market as trinkets or misinterpreted to mean voodoo by the grave robbers.  All things given to the US burials disinternment interpretations and their frame of studies in Anthropology.  As we discussed, Ordenstein buried most of the Ali'i's and it concerns me that they are being disinterned as we speak contrary to the beliefs of Odelia.

    On page Twenty five:

"Talking with uncle Joseph Ilalaole at a funeral watch.  he feels that it is his duty to attend (although only an honorary member) all death watches, because as he explained when his name is called up yonder, he does not want the members to be asking each other, "who is that old fellow?"

I am amazed to read this and have ushers use the words 'death watches' among others such as duty, or yonder... one can only ponder on their cultural interpretations and understanding.

I just wish that we were able to stop this disecrations along time ago with international laws.  Do we ever need to deoccupy and soon.  Just in those words "who is that fellow" depicts that unknown tomb that Kawaiahao Church is creating.  That age old political 'insignificant' or 'other' projected onto a group of people from a racist Anglo practice.

  • There should be Only One Symbol in a Church and that is the Cross!  The Flag of the United States is a False Symbol to God!   As the Flag of the United States represents the HEWA that United States has done to Hawaiian Nationals and many Indigenous Native Peoples of the World!

Even to Fly the Hawaiian Flag and to have the Kahilis in Kawaiahao is HEWA!   The Kahilis are symbols to the Alii of Old Hawaii.  There are No Alii in Hawaii of today!

Shame on those Hawaiian who continue to go to Kawaiahao and support the HEWA being done to the Iwi Kupuna at Kawaiahao!

  • The song is great, but question why the flag, the fringed flag is there...........Kawaiahao is hewa, it is a de facto church............our Hawaiian Nationals need to have a de jure group assert the replacement of the kahu, the Trustees, etc...............whatsoever you do..............time for all good men to come to the aid of our tutu's Church........ aloha.

  • KUE the HEWA that is at Kawaiahao!    KUE, KUE, KUE
