Aloha kakou.
Daniel Akaka delivered his eleventh and final address as an active U.S. Senator to the 2012 Native Hawaiian Convention at the Honolulu Convention Center yesterday, due to retire next January the Senator has done well under the U.S. political system. During his tenure some of his political stances are outlined here:

It is unfortunate that his name will forever be associated with his attempted U.S. Federal recognition on the Bill which bears his name and which he will actively pursue until his well pensioned retirement. His delivery commenced at 2.30 pm (local) and included a quote from H.R.H. Queen Lili'uokalani to a standing audience ovation on his conclusion. It will take more than 30-pieces of U.S. silver to betray loyal Hawaiian Nationals who do not value the U.S. Government's hills of kala but would rather eat pohaku the wonderful food of the 'aina. Onipa'a.

I am very sadden that he is leaving , even though we was sold out to the people , i pray that even my lord will handle this situation and every thing will fall under the lords hands he sees everything and knows whats going on , and this is why i highly reccomend that our people focus on the lord , because he is the one who appoints people not us .
