"HUAKA'I" Mural by 808 Urban's Punahou Junior Board

808 Urban's Punahou Junior Board is making the first steps in their journey with a mural titled "Huaka'i", or Journeys. Huaka'i is defined as a travel experience with a defined purpose, and this mural is the beginning of the Punahou Junior Board's travel together. The process of creating this project -- Which is located on South King Street, just walking distance from Punahou -- began with all the artists creating their own sketches depicting a journey. They all had the same underlying theme of a path or forest, which is shown in the final mural product, a collaboration of all of their individual works. As their first project, the group's leader, Lisa Kusaka, noted that this project was all about "improvising and learning to make do with what we have... It's all part of the journey, making mistakes, and trying to work with it and coming up with the best solution."
