Only a few people know how to do ipu pawehe today. The fact that it is not as easy to grow ipu in Hawai`i, makes it difficult to revive this art. Originally, this art was practiced by the people of Ni`ihau and an exquisite source of trade. This is an ipu with the skin carved. the design is in the making.
