Those fields are now coffee. It used to be pineapple. I think the GMO stuff on Molokai are the corn, with Monsato. I think my step-mother still works for them, not sure.
That reservoir, boasts to be the largest, manmade, rubberlined reservoire in the world. Of course, siphoned water from the valley to water the pineapples back in the day.
What are the cultivated fields of? Is it GMO corn? Kaua'i get plenty. There is an effort to educate people about GMO and I know the people of Moloka'i are concerned as well. There is a speaker, Jeffery Smith, coming to Kaua'i this week to talk about his books "Seeds of Deception" and "Genetic Roulette". They have become two best selling books on the subject. He will talk about how GMO's will affect our ag sustainability and food security. Is that a big reservoir in the middle of the picture? Jus curious. Mahalo.
Hmm gee... I should have known better. Some people just cannot let things BE. No... they like suck the life out of it. Everytime go back Home it gets worse especially on O'ahu but like I told my mom... I just squint and I can see some beauty. Getting hahd for see though LOL... so upsetting too. Well there is still hope for Molokai. At least there is some hope there.
lol Speaking of building, that town of kualapuu, eventually the hill you see in the pic. won't be able to be seen where I grew up b/c they planted pinetrees. Those trees are tall now after what, probably about 2 decades now, or almost 2 decades. How sad, it'll look different, obstruct our view of the horizon and the famous kualapuu hill.
