Cultural Practice of Hawaiian Uhi (tattooing) Threatened

I urge those of you who support the rights of Hawaiians to practice the art of traditional tattooing to support HB2887 that is going through the Hawai'i State Legislature. Call State Senator Collen Hanabusa at 808-586-7793 and let her know that you support the HD 2 (house draft 2) version of the bill. This bill merely clarifies the cultural standings of Hawaiian tattooing and unfortunately has been opposed by some industry tattooist like Trica Allen. The sounds of the hahau (tapping stick) has been silenced too long and is once again threatened by people outside the culture. Help support the right of the Indigenous people of Hawai'i to be allowed to continue this cultural right, call Senator Collen Hanabusa at 808-586-7793 and tell her you support HB2887HD2. Mahalo
