Presented as part of the 7th Annual Hapa Haole Hula & Music Festival. This film helped spark the heyday of the Hapa Haole music craze. While the images of Hawai‘i created during era have fallen out of favor with many modern Hawaiians, films like Waikiki Wedding helped Hawaiians keep a connection to their cultural traditions prior to the Hawaiian Renaissance of the 1970s.Whether the film inspires fond memories of a by-gone era, or conversations about the need for Hawaiians to create their own images, you will find something to inspire you . . . and have fun, too.
