The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will be awarding a half a million dollars in grants through its Community-Based Economic Development Program. The grants will provide funding to groups for planning, developing and implementing sustainable economic development projects that serve the needs of the Hawaiian community. Last year, 13 grants were issued including one to Molokai’s Hui ‘O Kuapa organization for a live rock enterprise program. Recipients are eligible for up to $50,000 in grants per year and are required to attend an informational workshop. The Maui workshop will be held this Friday, August 8th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Cameron Center Conference Room in Wailuku; The Molokai Workshop will take place this Saturday, August 9th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kulana Oiwi OHA conference room.
