PA`IA ― Na Hanona Kulike `O Pi`ilani, under the direction of na kumu hula Sissy Lake-Farm and Kapono`ai Molitau, is holding a benefit fundraiser on Tuesday, July 15th at the Flatbread Pizza Company in Paia Town. The event features entertainment and handmade Native Hawaiian items as well as a pizza fundraiser. Partial proceeds of each large and small pizza sold from 5 to 10 p.m. go toward the halau. Dancers will present a 20-minute hula show at 6:30 p.m., followed by makua and kupuna dancing at 8:30 p.m. A silent auction features Hawaiian cultural wares, such as ipu and ipu heke, kahili and lei hulu. Event proceeds benefit cultural activities, such as huaka`i by halau members to Pu`u Kohola heiau on Hawai`i island next month and Aotearoa in October.
