Hawaii A Voice For Sovereignty", the award winning documentary film by filmmaker Catherine Bauknight, launches its world tour in Hilo this Saturday and Sunday. The presentations take place Staurday, September 5th at 7 p.m., and Sunday, September 6th at 2:30 p.m., at the Palace Theater, 38 Haili Street, Hilo, HI.To enhance the educational purpose of this film, up to eight children accompanied by two adults, will be admitted for the discounted price of only one dollar each."Hawaii A Voice For Sovereignty" received the Audience Award - Best Hawaii Film, at this year's Maui Film Festival. The film explores the people, culture, land, and the self-sustainable lifestyle of Native Hawaiians. Utilizing interviews with native people, the film provides a 'voice' for them as they explain the affects that US occupation has on their lives since the overthrow of Queen Liliu'okalani by the US in 1893.See www.catherinebauknight for further information along with the film's trailer.The Hilo presentatin begins the world tour of this important film.
