An exhibit to celebrate the onipaʻa (steadfastness) of Queen Lili’uokalani and those continuing to kakoʻo (support) her legacy on Saturday, January 16th, 2010, 1-4 pm at the Hawaiʻi State Library Courtyard. This is the first year we are holding this event, a new feature of the annual/anniversary activities taking place at the ʻIolani Palace on Sovereignty Sunday, January 17, 2010. This year we gather to "Hoʻokahi lahui Hawaiʻi!. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: HAUNANI KAY TRASK.Our Master of Ceremonies Palani Vaughn will delight you, introducing our Keynote speaker and musicians, including Francine Gora and her sisters and brother, and Skippy ʻIoane. We will recognize winning artists and poets for their work, and enjoy meaʻai by Kihei Soli Niheu. Judges are primarily from Oʻahu; however, we have also invited some from the neighbor-islands in hopes that our neighbor islands will participate in this event next year. Itʻs an opportunity to celebrate the art and poetry of our community. We value your presence and would appreciate your joining us to enjoy and support this event!
