Subject: Statewide Actions for EqualitySaturday 3-7-09 vigil last night at the state Capitol in support of House Bill 444There will be pro-civil unions actions across Hawai'i Saturday, including vigils on O'ahu, Maui, and Hawai'i Island, and a rally on Kaua'i.Lama I Ke Kukui, a candlelight vigil, will begin at 6:00 p.m. in four locations on three islands:-On O'ahu, in Honolulu at the State Capitol (Beretania and Punchbowl) in front of the Queen Liliuokalani statue;-On Maui, in Wailuku at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (2140 Main St.);-On Hawai'i Island, in Kona at the Old Kona Airport Beach State Park (off Highway 19, West Hawaii); and-On Hawai'i Island, in Hilo at Kalakaua Park (Kinoole Street, Hilo);Attendees are asked to bring their own candles and are reminded that Lama I Ke Kukui is not a rally or protest. The vigils are sponsored by Unity Church, Family Equality Coalition, Temple Emmanu-el, Unitarian Church of Hawaii, Church of the Crossroads, Hawaii Island Pride and Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club.-------------In Lihue on Kaua'i, a Rally for Civil Unions and Equality will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the northeast corner outside of the Kukui Grove Shopping Center parking near the traffic light at Kaumuali`i Highway and Nawiliwili Road (closest store is Macys). Please bring signs showing your individual or organizational support for Civil Unions for same-sex couples and equality for all.
