N.O.A.ʻs Monk Seal vs KANAKA MAOLI.

When John Kealii tried to teach young generation how to use the nets properly, the authority came and interfered with the teaching. John left with intent to return when the authority leave. The young people went out on there own and did not do it right.

In Waianae we had a mother and son seal that hangs around a slurps the fish from the net. The son was taught by mom to slurp fish off the net that these young people had set out. Here is an excerpt of that problem:

"Last month, an adult monk seal drowned after it became trapped in an unattended fishing net off Oahu's Makua Beach.

The state last week charged a Waianae man with violating state gill net rules by using a net longer than 125 feet and failing to check on his net in the water." June 2007...in Feb. 2007 nets needed to be registered, however, the addition to their net policy needed approval first so they time stamped in May or March 2007, the law was passed about the nets needing to be registered on Sept. 2, 2007. In the mean time, I helped John go to court...he had 300 hours for not registering the net that the young people was using that night. The teacher (John was disconnected) could not complete the 'fishing discipline' of culture practice and the what to do right because of interference by all involved. But note the dates and do a time line of the politics. It's interesting huh? Trust me it drove us all crazy with the nets, the floaters, trying to register. thousands of dollars invested in fishing gear and taken from the owner under light of conspiracy for jurisdiction by the use of the monk seals. Same thing with what happened with the cows and land use in thousands. No different with off shores. Lots more to say. But, Kapu is correct send these seals to the north western islands and have them live happily ever after over there.
