The tattooed iceman found in the Austrian alps in 1991 is 5,300 years old dating from 3,300 BCE. You can view some of the 57 separate tattoos close up by clicking here:

Another amazing feature of Otzi as the iceman is called, is that he smelted his own copper. This is known from copper samples found in his hair and the axe design in his possession. -Aloha.
