                                                            Mahalo for this fascinating video interview dialogue. The oldest Christian church in Hawai'i was actually King Kamehameha II's thatched residence.

    Mokuaikaua church in Kailua-Kona was built between 1820-1820 but this original structure burned down back in 1835. (Holy smoke?).

    In January of 1836 work commenced on rebuilding Mokuaikaua church which reopened in 1837.

    Meanwhile in Honolulu work commenced to build Kawaiaha'o church in 1836.
