Only later we found out we’d beenkidnapped.”The rally will start at 10 AM at Ala Moana Beach Park on the Diamond Head side. The marchitself will travel mauka along Atkinson Drive, ending in front of the Hawai`i Convention Centerwhere participants will congregate to protest the day-long, fake state-sponsored 50th stateJubilee activities going on inside at that time.Everyone is encouraged to attend the march and rally. Both are free and open to the public.After the illegal annexation of Hawai`i in 1893, the US in 1959 conducted a domestic plebisciteon the question of whether or not Hawai`i should be admitted as a state, rather than aninternational body such as the United Nations conducting a plebiscite offering three choices forHawai`i’s status: independence, compact of free association, or statehood, as required byinternational law. No real choice was ever offered to voters.Recent research has shown that only 36% of all eligible voters participated in the 1959statehood vote, while 64% did not. Voters were mainly American settlers and US militarymembers and their families. The vast majority of Hawai`i residents boycotted the vote entirely.“There is nothing to celebrate,” remarked Cruz. “We call attention to how US imperialism in ourhomeland has resulted in the fake state of Hawai`i commemorating itself inside the conventioncenter.
