TO ALL KANAKA MAOLI,"I hope you have been getting the info on line that shows the details of the settlement that OHA is doing w/ the state behind closed doors. Just remember, OHA is a state agency. It is an ARM of the state...and knows which back to scratch when itchy. We all get itch...but OHA no scratch ours."This is a good example of the scratch you not going get and OHA will be laughing all the way to the bank!We going be HOMELESS IN OUR OWN 'AINA. Make room on the beach for everybody else too!Do you know what is going to happen? Where will you be next month? Dis month?
Yes, he probably has that in mind for governor. How sad he has written his own history doing nothing. Stay behind the scenes as they call it. By then, the KINGDOM OF HAWAII will need no governor like that or at all.
A few years ago I tried to hanai/adopt an oiwi child who was an ice baby. After I sent a letter to her pleading with her to please do not let him fall through the cracks... Lingle helped me by hooking me up directly with a director. The baby is now living with a military family so while I am still a registered Republican despite the few pilau my experience is some evidence that perhaps some people do not have our best interest in mind. They only have their own.
I hope though that other oiwi don't focus on being popular in the aina and refrain from speaking out because they want to be liked and/or to be popular. I prefer that while being blunt is the haole style I prefer the truth even if it is spoken with bluntness and hope that those who CAN speak up speak up for those who may not be able to and/or who can't due to possibly losing their livelihood.
BTW my father knows the Lt Governor and I am sad to say but Akiona seems to be a token Hawaiian who seems to be a talking head for the Republican party. However when I hear and/or see him I see him allowing Lingle and people like her use the personal property of some oiwi without their consent. HE IS AN ATTORNEY who condones this B.S. and he is OIWI? WTF? Sorry but an oiwi and as an attorney he should know better than to slap other oiwi in their face. Republican or not. *You* do not do that but yes my father knows him. I make like I dunno some people though because they make the rest of us oiwi SHAME and some of his actions or rather inaction shows what values his kupuna instilled in him and THIS reflects VERY poorly on them. That is a travesty in all of this but I know that like Lingle... HE does not care about us. IF he did he wouldn't allow that B.S. to even OCCUR. Instead he would explicitly state that is not RIGHT to do ANYONE WRONG. He is an attorney after all which IMHO makes things worse. Kalamai but he is an epitome of some people who value their resume and/or their portfolio over helping other oiwi. IMHO not a good example of what oiwi are about and what and who we value and IMHO he should walk with his head down in shame instead of how he walks with his head angled towards the sky. Just my mana'o but I don't like how he allows some people to harm other oiwi and he can do SOMETHING about it but chooses not to do much because he has his eyes on possibly being governor one day. IMHO to me having a governor who is oiwi is not as wonderful as having a governor who is oiwi and who is PRO-oiwi and/or pro-iwi.
I know it's possible to survive and/or to be successful on one's terms WITHOUT stepping on our kupuna. Sorry but he does not have to step on our kupuna like how he seems to be doing. Then again money and/or power bring out who *you* really are and I know other Akiona and they are nothing like him. They are very warm....
Exactly, the po'e thinks that OHA will be there for them. Our po'e needs to keep informed about what issues will have an impact on them too. It is difficult to separate themselves because we are led to believe them then all of a sudden, they are "stuck." We do I believe?
I just got an email from a friend who lives in U.S. She stated that she couldn't afford to live here in Hawaii. Many po'e move away for this reason and so many to think of too. She needed clarification, it was okay to share my mana'o. The po'e needs to read and be alert of issues that affect our KEIKI. Get involved and learn and ask questions. If you hilahila, well I can't help you, but I'll encourage you to validate you mana'o of what you know.
I learned more about the political issues since joining MW in early January 2009. There was a reason taking off a quarter from college, but the purspose was a stronger calling for na kupuna. I was tired of hearing the same old stuff. My mother was an activist and she and her collegues accomplished many things that was beyond expectations. I can understand that today....
What is my role. As a wahine, makuahine and haumana, my roles and responsibiities are numerous. Priorities include educating my keiki what is going on. They are confused and ask why is that happening to us? How do you tell a seven year old to be, oh by the way Linda L. and her bandits wants to sell SEIZED LANDS that was stolen by an illegal overthrow and annexed. That is a lot of information to "handle."
DOE will not teach this or mention the truth. Well, when is the truth is suppose to come. Excuse me, we going tell you what I think you should know. Oh by the way, thanks for everything. You got haumana dropping out of Waianae High. Can you blame them! You got American Schools in Hawaii that has failed to educate and increase RETENTION. You got homelessness a larger concern and even with the income, not enough to cover basic needs for food and shelter.
DO NOT TRUST Linda Lingle and her bandits. You got a part Hawaiian lt. governor and where is he? The only po'e who would HARASS is the very ones who put them there!
SAY NO TO THE AKAKA BILL. Read more about it if you don't understand it. Ask for clarification and don't be ashame to ask for KOKUA. WE CARE ABOUT YOU whether you don't know us!
You got agencies pist off because services are limited and not enough to service Native Hawaiians. They owe it our po'e. We always will be "begging for monies to service Native Hawaiians." We live in land of our ancestors an yet homelessness among our own race is expected to increase.
I'm with Pomaikaiokalani on that issue that some people have failed us yet they like to boast about how great they are. How can they brag and boast when 40% of us are homeless?!?!?! There is no reason to brag.
I'm still very shocked that Apoliona still has her seat though and yes some people actually support her. I don't. I think there is something inherently wrong with watching some of her own cousins drown and yes if we continue to do what they are doing and go along with it the stats WILL increase. We are not getting better. More of us are leaving to no fault of our own. When I think about it hmmm my status quo WILL be other keiki and mo'opuna's status quo so let me kindly serve as a reminder what will happen to *your* mo'opuna. For me knowing what I know... I would NEVER want a child to leave everything that and everyone who I have ever known so I hope MORE oiwi question AUTHORITY or rather... PSEUDO AUTHORITY like OHA that has NO authority over the Hawaiian Kingdom yet sure like ack like they do LOL... and a few other people and/or entities who have a mission to try to intimidate and/or harass and/or to try to dictate to us that there is no hope. I hope that other oiwi do NOT listen to them and do NOT rely on them or even trust them.
When I was a little girl guess what? I trusted them because they said and/or implied that they were trustworthy. They would like us to believe that they have our best interests in mind. They don't. They do not give a sh*t about us. Period! For some the truth hurts but knowing that can save some valuable time and energy relying on people who cannot be relied on.
I don't have a problem with those oiwi WOMEN who fight for title and thus for land. However I DO have a problem with OHA who tries to intimidate and/or harass them in order to try to stop them from doing what they *want* to do. IMHO there is something inherently wrong with that.
A question is... WHO WILL WATCH THE WATCHERS??? Or rather... who will watch the PSEUDO-WATCHERS who really are not watchers but are self-proclaimed watchers who are only watching out for their portfolio? Throughout our history it has been oiwi WOMEN. No offense to the kane but oiwi women have been some who have towed the line/towing the line busting their ass trying to get sh*t done. There is A LOT to be said about their work. They also serve as SOME good role models for the next generation of little girls and show them that they do not give a crap about what others think of them. They will do what they HAVE to do on their OWN terms irrelevant of what others think about them which is awesome!!! (Yeah olelo haole.) But STRONG oiwi women? They right on! On the other hand... who will STOP OHA from doing whatever they want to do even though they are a SINGLE AGENT with a fiduciary duty TO US.
I hope it is *you* because if *you* don't then *your* mo'opuna WILL be like me except I can cash out my equity.
Will *your* mo'opuna be able to cash out their equity? Will THEY qualify for homestead? Will THEY live on the beach only to be HARASSED? Or will they have to leave EVERYONE and EVERY THING they have ever known????
e Namaka'eha, I'm pass OHA. As a Hawaiian Nationalist, my country is the Hawaiian Kingdom. The OHA Trustees, the State of Hawaii and the United States has all failed their trust obliation to our people, the Kanaka Maoli Hawaii. Hawaiians need to think about going home to their nation, the Hawaiian Kingdom. Go home to our nation and give her the life that she needs to take her place among the family of nations. Hawaii belongs to our people as a nation. Long Live The Hawaiian Kingdom.
