https://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments&v=GbRXF64YotEFirst, the link to a video that isn't as significant as the comments I've seen with this ejseabury person. It started with other people replying "Free Hawaii" and how he stupidly says that it is free, and then more details came out. Now, or the most recent thing he said regarding the Newland's Resolution was that contrary to what I posted about the diff. articles in the US Constitution, he said that the President was NOT the only person to make treaties. Is he fucking serious? I remember this popolo professor of mine STRESSING that we knew what Congress could do and the powers of the President. I mostly remember how he stressed the powers of Congress and what he had to memorize, but that already shows you the emphasis that...what is listed as what Congress can do, they can do it. Now if they could make treaties, then that would've been in there, but that wasn't the case. It is only for the President to make treaties. Then he mentioned the Republic of Hawaii. I can only think back to what Leon Siu wrote on his illustration/comparison to a car being stolen. This guy is ridiculous, not to mention he brought up his ancestor Manuel Nunes and how he was a Hawaiian citizen, and that was his response to me asking what did I constitute as a "foreigner". Shit, my meaning of a foreigner is just that, someone foreign! He also mentioned the voting (Statehood) since I mentioned mostly military and he said that it wasn't someone from AZ that voted, but Hawaii RESIDENTS. Give me a fucking break! And he said he is willing to allow people to re-vote again. Hell no, is that fair? That's like bringing in half of Mexico into the southern borders of the US and allowing them to vote for...I dunno, another president. Would that be fair? Then there was a comment I read in yesterday in Ka Wai Ola, an editorial comment where a woman said how important the tourists are to the economy. If I remember correctly, she mentioned the incident where a tourist was attacked by locals. As tragic and unfortunate that was, her comment about how we should be nice to tourist because it is they who help generate income to those particularly working these jobs in the tourist industry just rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, first of all it's patronizing to me, and then to say how if we're not nice to tourists, that what, things will go bad as far as the economy goes? Give me a break!

  • Aloha Kalani,
Kaohi here, I read thru the Ytube thread, awesome arguments, liking what I am reading so to speak. About the development stuff, in 1998, I came home to help my husband with the 911 'to be' and I got caught up in my community problems. I was a UH burned out student anyhow, with a huge student loan to pay off. (I recently got a second one) Back to development, the city worked with Ray Soon to force our community to hook up to the city's Waste Water Management. 35 Na Kupuna names were placed on the wall at DHHL department; their purpose was to force our community to hook up to the sewage through the use of scare tactics upon our Na Kupuna's. Our Na Kupuna’s had to sign a bogus contract agreement ($3,000) to hook up.
Today, most have died leaving a legacy of a sewage bill, neighborhood riots (prison labor use) broken road, sewage problems and a quarter blood quantum community. The quarter blood quantum DHHL community is at the end of Kaneaki's road sitting below (Hiaaka's two uncle’s moolelo). This community is owned by KD construction development and has a past/future legacy of genocidal plans for Waianae. It’s so amazing to watch these state crimes continue into the future generations. Keep up with the good work on Newl..Law, and thank you for paying such a close attention to the details.
About the Mexico comment-- check out Breach of Trust hawaii Philip Montez, this document process was organized and implemented by Waianae's Na Kupuna, they were smart and intelligent. The new implants lack the stamina to get beyond the Akaka bill. Malama
  • Lana....yeah, I noticed Eric A., but I remember him from HCU. And yes, we are ALL slaves to the almighty $. But...brazilian $ is not the same you know. lmao Nah, j/k. But yes, I remember 3 men regarding the ukulele too and those 2 names actually I remembered as I was diving into my Portuguese side of genealogy. Nope, I'm not a descendant of any of them as far as I know. lol
  • he said he is willing to allow people to re-vote again. Hell no, is that fair? That's like bringing in half of Mexico into the southern borders of the US and allowing them to vote for...I dunno, another president. Would that be fair?

No. That would be citizens of one nation voting in another nation. Thus an inherent problem with some Americans *LOL* Some want that for the Hawaiian Kingdom but if citizens of other nations were to vote in the U.S. they would forbid it. They do so now. Double Standard hypocritical B.S.
  • Lana...did you tell me about Eric before? It almost SOUNDS familiar. But this explains why he does what he does, trying to repaint a diff. picture of what people like us who try to EDUCATE others on the truth have been trying to do.

I never mentioned him to you but he found me at Facebook. You know I don't add just anyone there but find some of his mana'o aligned with mine like about politics. However we diverge when it comes to intra-national Hawaiian issues. He is at my Facebook though. Try look at my list of people whom I have added. He is one of them.

FWIW I think he twists some history in his favor... like with Manuel Nunez. MY grandfather is the ONLY one who has documentation proving that he was a ukulele luthier and was CHOSEN by King Kalakaua to play for him. Notice that he stated that Nunez is THE inventor of the ukulele but he's not. He is one of THREE men credited with the invention of the ukulele but MY grandfather is the only one who has documentation. Do you see me rub that in his face? LOL

Tourism doesn't sustation the locals, but only the rich or those who can afford it. If that were the case, you wouldn't see so many Filipinos or whoever those people are that work in the tourist industry working for little pay. That subservient type of lifestyle just doesn't fly with me. To me personally, kinda like modern day slavery.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but we are ALL prostitutes and slaves in SOME way to the dollar. A result of globalization aka homogenization (i.e. white milk.) Without it you would not have food to eat, a car or bus to take you from point A to point B, or a roof over your head.

IMHO it's not good to condition the keiki that somehow it's wrong to have money and/or that we need to go back to the days of our kupuna. Let's be realistic for the sake of our mo'opuna: Without money... they WILL die. IMHO putting these idealistic thoughts in their heads does a disservice to our mo'opuna. Why not be blunt and truthful and let them know... they NEED to acquire money without stepping on their kupuna-s' bones and use it to survive and to help other Hawaiians to survive.

Then again I was lied to until I found out what money can do. Yes the love of money is the root of all evil. However it can also help our mo'opuna survive.

    Malama! ~ Lana
  • Yeah, I thought I heard it was the same for Italy.
  • I think I heard France college is free. Can't remember where I heard it though. Seems like I also remember France helps families with new born babies

Alice...hey, why not, Canada has free medical. I like the idea of free comm. college. I thought some Europeans, I forgot which country, or maybe I'm thinking of either PHilippines or Brasil, they pay for their education. It might be both actually now that I think about it, or pay for some of it at least.

Kamatose...good analogy, last night I was talking to another Oiwi about a similar thing, living on the mainland, and how you (we {maua}) tend to be so comfortable with a lot of things at our disposal here, materialistic things as you said. I know that from what people tell me back home on Molokai, the people who move there are so accustomed to that, they become rude with the store employees, for either not moving as fast as say those on the mainland, not having the product, or something along that line. Their priority, of which they have obviously, is $$$ and that speaks the language for them, vs. mana.

  • I think it's funny how the foreigners who forced the term "hawaiian" on us are now backtracking as saying that "hawaiian" isn't an ethnicity. Okay, if you want to say anyone that lives in Hawaii is Hawaiian, then how about Kanaka Maoli? Gonna tell us that's not ethnic either? LOL Pure stupidity if you ask me.

As far as tourist are concerned, that question is neither here nor there. I believe I read in "The Betrayal of Liliuokalani" King Kamehameha had said something to the effect of give the people what they need, not increase their wants. Not word for word, but you get the idea. What has tourism really given us? I don't see any of us walking around rich. If that was the case I imagine we'd just buy up all the land that was stolen from us and tell everyone to get out. Tourism has only made foreigners rich in our lands. So does tourism sustain the Hawaiian people? I would say no. It might put dinner on the table, but before tourism and before our lands were stolen we didn't want for anything. Some would argue that isn't the case today, but it doesn't mean it can't be. These big tourists traps take up a lot of ground. If those lands were cultivated to grow food instead, we could feed a lot of our people and just as many, if not more, would have jobs that MEANT something. Would you rather serve someone from New England pepperoni and shrimp pizza at 10:00 pm on floor 31 or would you rather cultivate taro?

When my wife and I lived mainland, we always had everything, all creature comforts and it was only to fill a void of not being home. We sold everything and at first you think 'oh man, my big screen or I just bought this or that'. But these are just materialistic things. It's the haole way of thinking. Those things don't mean anything.

To me, that's what it's about. This is just as much a spiritual journey as it is a physical one. Greed versus love. Money versus mana.
  • Aloha,

There a lot of pilau po'e who love to ridicule us no matter what. Guess what, the Hawaiian Kingdom has a different approach of taking care of po'e who are just like that. For every act of treason, there is a solution to be part of our own kingdom. Free medical for Native Hawaiians! Yes, I said free medical. I'm asking for consideration fro free tuition for any who attends a local community college/university in Hawaii.

I'm sure it was brought up, but it doesn't mean we should stop inquiring about it and making it part of our kuleana!

So, to all those pilau po'e, get ready to rock! It doesn't matter what you think or how you deceived us, we kanaka maoli will still be standing!
