the Hoku Le'a

Several years ago the Hoku Le'a sailed into port.  Naturally I went down to see it.  As I climbed aboard one of the crew introduced me to the other visitors, "And here is our distinguished captain"--she obviously needed glasses, or maybe I looked like the guy.  Do you think I did anything to correct the impression?  No, I just smiled and waved graciously.

I have told that story in Hawaiian on my blog kaonamakekai, I wish my Hawaiian were better, I wish it were 100% correct fool proof, but I do make mistakes, it embarasses me.  So...English for now.  I study Hawaiian from Na Kai Ewalu from UHH and E Kama'ilio Hawai'i Kakou (Kahananui & Anthony)

  • Mahalo for sharing your story, it's a nice relief from the drudge of politics.
