For my family and friends who like KNOW:Someone asked why there are few Hawaiians in the media. It is obvious that the B.S. media builds people up then tears them down. The differential between the high and the low makes for HUGE profits so if and when people wonder why Hawaiians do not speak to any medium... THAT is why and I do not blame them!I know Patrick Kawaiola of Keaukaha and he told me that the local B.S. media misquotes him ALL of the time. I would NEVER grant interviews. EVER!Yet some oiwi insist on speaking to a medium only to get MISQUOTED.One time a videographer rushed me when the plane to HNL was caught in a turbulence scare. He asked if he could interview me on camera. Guess what? I said NO!!!It also annoys me when some people mistakenly think that oiwi have to take crap from other PEOPLE. NO... we can ACCEPT, REJECT, OR COUNTER.We do not have to say Yes. We are NOT obligated to say Yes. It is OKAY for us to REJECT. Thus an inherent problem that I have with Senator Akaka. Don't get me wrong but I live on the very-blunt-and-extremely-RUDE East Coast (which epitomizes the best and the worse of America) so I KNOW how some people can be RUDE but you do NOT under ANY circumstances PUSH other oiwi to do what YOU want them to do or have them think the way that YOU want them to think. That's rude!!!I think that Senator Akaka is rude. You ASK FIRST. You do NOT push it down other oiwis' throat NOR do you tell or even IMPLY that you know what is best for them. That is so rude!!! Instead... YOU ASK!I also notice that some people mistakenly conflate "living among the ho'ohaole" or "speaking/writing in olelo haole" to "being brainwashed against one's kupuna." They are not mutually exclusive. So annoying!!! LOLAnyway latahs!!!

  • Well, I see my punahele's are working hard...I love it....

Question is how do you folks spread your message to the people at very litte cost? I'm not taliking about only money....

What are the International laws on illegal Military occpation of a free country? What is the duty of an American mlitary officer on illegal occupation and its protocol?

What countries are willing to help Hawaii? How and when would it be best to use thes countries political muscle against America;s lies?

    Just somethings to think about....

Kawena once told me to look for the source.....in this case your source is yourselfs...

    Aloha no

  • It is first about empowering ourselves individually through education of our history, and not the version that has been taught in our schools for generations. It is the history that has been suppressed, the history that our kupuna did not talk freely about, the history that went underground that has been uncovered and made more available via the internet today, providing greater access for Kanaka Maoli everywhere. It is the history that I discovered as a Hawaiian Studies student at UHM. If not for the battles fought by Haunani-Kay Trask and others to build the Center, I and so many others would not have had the kind of education I am talking about. More importantly, it has been the rediscovery of 'Olelo Hawaii that has truly opened the doors for us and gave us access to the words of our kupuna. I find myself in conflict over what was drilled in to me for years and the knowledge I have acquired in my recent adult years. There is no way to reconcile the two. Either one must accept the truth and stand in resistance to our daily reality, or continue to buy into the American way of life. When those in your immediate circle do not agree and think you are "nuts" how do we not waiver in our position? I really have to search my na'au for the answer and the only one that continually comes up for me is to look to ko'u mau kupuna. They will guide me in all my moments of weakness and uncertainty. I must remind myself to remember the signatures of my 'ohana on the Ku'e Petitions and most of all how they so loved their land and the lahui. Educating others is the next step and the harder one for me, especially when I must endure ridicule, hostility and rejection. I am grateful to have found Maoli World as a place to discuss these things freely, with acceptance and understanding.

I watched Keanu Sai's presentation regarding "Ceded Lands" for the 3rd time and still find it unbelieveable that the chronology of events played out as it did. And the propaganda has worked. All one needs to do is read the comments left on the two major newspapers' blogs regarding "ceded lands" and it is obvious that the propaganda left in place by Dole, Thurston and McKinley and the key players in Congress continues in full force today. What was extremely interesting was the fact that records of Congress on the fateful day when Hawaii was "annexed" in 1898, were missing and sealed from the public record until 1969. Proof of a concerted effort to conceal the truth, that Hawaii was not annexed by a Treaty but by a Joint Resolution. Even more interesting is the story of the statue of McKinley. Mahalo to Keanu Sai for this hard work and research and for putting this story out there for all to see. How does the U.S. justify or rectify this deceit? They cannot so they continue to suppress. That is why when we know the truth we must educate. Even when we are ridiculed and rejected for our views.
  • For decades the media has been suppressing our voices and downplaying our arguments. Now through the internet we are getting our voices heard. We have been protesting since the invasion and belligernent occupation but you'd never know it because they don't want the truth to come out. Now it is coming out and they are getting scared. The U.S. is getting caught up in its lies and for all to see. Soon, they will have to come to terms with their criminal actions. They are still too brazen to admit it. Get your voices heard wherever you can. Write, speak up and learn the truth to tell the story. Get out there and do it for your family, children, and country. God Bless Hawai'i!
  • What's up w/ Senator Akaka? Is he only listening to mainstream Kanaka Maoli-Americans such as those in OHA? Is he so out of touch w/ the rest of us, or is he brainwashed? Is it the effects of colonization? Or is he being overpowered by Inouye? Is it about his legacy that he wants to leave behind? Or does he honestly believe he is speaking for the majority of kanaka out there? What is the deal w/ this anyway? I don't understand why we are not being given a voice, especially those of us living on the neighbor islands? Where are the hearings for all Kanaka Maoli to voice their mana'o about this bill? I am tired of having Haunani and the other trustees of OHA, claiming to represent to all kanaka. They do not. This is a bad bill that has been amended to death, in no way representing what it had started out to be. We need leaders, like those who hand-carried the Ku'e Petitions to Washington, to go there and give the other side of the story. Like Ku Ching did. We need more of that kind of action.
