Kanaka Maoli Scholars sent a second open letter regarding the desecration of na iwi Hawai'i. (You can view it on Hawaiiian Independent). John D'Amass, I mean, D'Amario, Brescia's right-hand man received this post and responded with an insult to our people as he wrote, "So how do you know that the people buried out there weren't assholes??" Many wrote back to him because of his insensitive remark.He then responded:Listen: Just because Mr. Brescia and I may be affiliated in some kind ofbusiness here on the mainland doesn't mean I share the same opinions andviews as him in his private or professional life.? These continuous assaults on our culture, heritage, history, people, and territory must cease. D'mario'sinsulting remarks was the end of him. Being a person of his position; his youth and lack of diplomacy create the lashback he received. He should have responded a better way; then he would not be inundated with letters of people who felt slighted by his callous and irresponsible remarks. He speaks like a young, inexperienced and immature kid that he is and is suffering for it.
It seems consistent for all who oppose kanaka maoli. They blast us regardless and yet give no respect to our 'aina! They do this deliberately to annoy us, yet we must stand firm and look onward.

The CEO Brescia could have easily worked with Hawaiians first and D'Amario could have shown some control but now it is only making things worse.
I am in the white collar world. So is my Haole husband and *you* just do not say this kinda thing about ANYONE not even in emails. IMO they should have asked the Hawaiian people if it's okay, someone like Dr Gon to bless the place, etc but now... now THIS. Ugh.
