 The Bill Sb1 was officially signed by govner Abocromby and made into law, yet the people opposing same sex marriage are counter suing that the Bill is unconstitutional, because of a misconception about wether the voters in the last election had really understood the ramifications of voting on a Bill to give the Legistlation the power to determine what is marriage.  the argument by Collette Machado chairman of OHA who is oppossed to the stated some interesting ramifications about this Bill, she brought up the blood quantum which was initially made by the US federal govment that only Hawaiians of 50% koko can recieve benefits from OHA ( which I totaly disagree with, I believe if you have Hawaiian koko in your finger tips you should recieve the same benefits as a half blooded Hawaiian ). The issue of a same sex couple, for example two females, one native hawaiian and the other of a diffrent nationality that have a child and marry, will that child be able to recieve benefits from OHA. That is a good argument and I for one am not to sure about the long term ramifications. On the opposite side Professor Dean Hamer a Biological Chemestry professor from Harvard who supports SB1 also came up with some very interesting arguments. Putting it in " Laymans " terms, he stated that genes is a part of our makeup that determines who you will become, its part of all of us and some people are more attracted to the same gender, it was never a choice but a trait, not only in humans but also in deferent species. These are two of the arguments for and against same sex marriage. In my own opinion, who are we to play God and tell people how to live thier lives, to each thier own as long as they dont hurt anybody else its all good, and I dont know when I turned on the six oclock news with Joe Moore on channel 2 and heard about a gay or lesbian gunman shooting up a higschool, Go figure.
