Digging up remains of their own parishioners in order to build a new social hall without notifying ahead of time the families of those buried there has sparked community outrage, protests, and even arrests.
Those who watched our interview with Kamuela responded with some of the strongest language and reaction to any of our shows to date.
And everyone has asked the same question, “what is the community doing to stop this?”

Watch Out for Neil and his Pilau LuLu BELLS....................
Mahalo for sharing this video with us. It is so important for voices to be heard, especially to an immense part of who we are. So much has been stolen from our graves for too long by archeologist and their bones displayed as trinkets for eyeballs to see the bareness of ones insignificance.
What's also seriously horrific is the jewelry belongs to the Archeologist because we to ignorant to fight for their 'ukana' too. Turtle shell combs, jewelry, things placed in the coffin by love ones as they morned real tears, money thrown into the graves--all of which belongs to the archeologist and sold on ebay! So very cruel OHA.
That was a huge issue with OHA in its premaking of the early 70s--insignificant. And we were standing before these people that was outright stealing monies that didn't belong to them. And changing the shameful definition of our native Hawaiian which is 50% plus bloodquantum. How so very sad that the people of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs not only told us that we were insignificant to our faces, but to declare our people of Long Ago also too, insignificant is incomprehensibls. So very sad.
But, the benefits will be phenomenonal with their building on the very souls of our people's bones, just as the OHA people built their careers on newborns that are living under bushes on the side of the road. Pilau people!
KUE the HEWA at Kawaiahao!
