Koakanu had a son named Kauiokamoku (k) who married Puuheanakawahinepelekaneolunalilo (w) and had one daughter named Wahineaukai (w). Koakanu helped Kamehamemeha I. He once lived in Hilea in Ka'u where our ohana lived. Koakanu also had ownership of Niihau before the Robinsons....I have no idea what happened to the ownership transfer from Koakanu to the Robinsons. That's all I can share for now until other members of our Ohana comes forward with more information on Koakanu. When large land ownership has a bearing on family we have to be careful because the current owners don't want the truth to come out and what was written even in the Hawaiian Newspapers were altered. The Haoles were able to read and write in Hawaiian by the 1830's....so you have to look at the written documents with care. For example in 1896 many genealogy records came out, so you have to think the records were altered to continue the land ownership and the current Alii families in place.
