Native Hawaiians have been spoken of in the third person and the rest of the bona fide Hawaii nationals have been ignored altogether. This has been intentionally done to side-track the real issues and to foster the U.S. WASP racist doctrines of manifest destiny presented by the Akaka Bill. No one in their right mind would support such a bill.
Akaka enlisted persons with special private interests and Hawaiian organizations duped into believing that this was the only option for the people. Some spokespeople like Clyde Namuo (admisitrator of OHA), professed, "...it's better than nothing.", making one believe that that's the only option native Hawaiians have in self-determination and that the U.S. although admitting its unlawful actions will not give up Hawai'i even if the people protest like they did in the 1800s, especially in 1897.
Hawaii nationals feel it's time to pay the piper and that the U.S. should follow its laws by de-occupying Hawai'i, return the governance to the citizens of the Hawaiian Kingdom which would restore the confidence the U.S. has underminded to strip them of their sovereign independence.
This is the only way the U.S. can remove the shame and dishonor it has committed against a democratic, friendly, neutral nation. Coveting what is not theirs is very un-Christian and a sin against the Ten Commandments they claim to uphold. The atonement is not the practice used in the Akaka Bill; but to fully restore the total independence of Hawai'i to its nationals, the true citizens who have been held hostage by the U.S.A. Now, that's the only option on the table.
