too many non-natives...non-indigenous thinking - mostly white people are appropriating our lodges, our practices and selling us out.
This has to be said.
And those poor sould who died in this tragic event in sedona recently were white people.
The guy leading the sweat and selling the admissions was a white millionaire. ya.
Harsh as it is.
And for us Native Communities from the continent , I find it is our own people often times giving consent in silence or
in an out right manner.
Not often..but often enough so that white people or non-natives give themselves permission to mock-up a ceremony.
Havasupai or whomever are the traditional owners of that Sedona Region definitely be front and center on the list of protocols.
But als these rich people who 'own' the acreage go un-monitored.
it's a sick industry. Plenty of profit and so people from those communities (mostly non-natives) will work in concert with one another.
Still...as you mention, there are ways and it is what we are supposed to do in any effort todefend and protect our traditions.
Just sad.
BTW:

When I complain about white women and their veiws with our culture, I am looked upon as being uninviting, left wing, racist by my own and their partnerships with other people. I often have to explain how we are connected in partnerships via exchange of goods with the easterners of turtle island. And how our religion was damaged by observers from the academic community. I say to my people to understand Laura Cabot and redirect white women to their source. For Laura teaches how one must not mix the handling of money and practice of their spirit world. May one find peace in such a loss. Kaohi
