Aloha everyone,
My name is Rena Leialoha Kunipo, originally from Papakolea Homestead, Honolulu, Hawaii. I am doing genealogy research for my Kunipo and Kawainui Ohana. In November 2016, my Ohana was summoned to the Third Circuit Court for a Quiet Title lawsuit by Ka'u Sunshine LLC, Attorney Michael W. Gibson. We are currently in Discovery in the lawsuit process. I did a GOOGLE search for my family surname KUNIPO from Ka'u, Hawaii and found KUNIPO on Maoliworld. I'm looking for anyone who has any knowledge of my kupuna that lived in Ka'u, HOOPALE, LOIKA, KOELEELE & KAHINAWE KAWAINUI KUNIPO, AKUI, JAMES & MARY OHIKAPILI, HAALOU KUNIPO CHUNHOON, and ELIZABETH KUNIPO WANG (Ninole-Wailau Homestead, Punaluu, Kaalaiki areas) . OUR A'ina is located at Ninole-Wailau Homestead Lots 49 & 50. If you have any information, pictures or stories about my Ohana please contact me at luaufeet@juno.com. Any information is greatly appreciated. Help us Keep Hawaiian Lands in Hawaiian Hands.
Mahalo - Aloha Ke Akua

Aloha - I am a first cousin to Lani Kealoha and our grandmother was Annabelle Kumuhonua Pupuka, daughter of Daniel Pupuka and Kaleo Kaiama. For so long, I have been trying to connect with anyone having ties to these families. I know you must be so busy but if you have time, it would be very much appreciated if you could share whatever info you may have and/or put me in touch with other ohana who may have more info. The reunion that was put on by the Kanuha ohana must have been very enlightening. Junior Kanuha was to have sent me updated materials from the 2003 reunion which my father, husband and I were supposed to attend but couldn't make it due to my dad's ill health at the time. Again, mahalo for all that you do. Joy

Yes my grandmother is from Hawaii. Her maiden name is Hannah Keliikukini Kahalaiwi. Don't know exactly what part though. My dad said he wanted to do some geneology from her side also.

Hey Aunty,
I was practically raised here. Been here since I was 11. No my dad lives in Texas now. But he is related to him. WOW. I will have my dad get the permission. Once he says it's okay I will definitely let you know. I truly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Oh, and here is my cell # 936-371-2421 or via email, or if you have a facebook acct. My dad's name is John Ahu Kahalaiwi Kanehailua, and his dad is Wilson Kanehailua. I found this site searching for siblings of Ernest Kanehailua, and Sam D. Kanehailua. I have a family tree from my mom's side, and I would love to have one from my dad's side.
