  • Very interesting reading. I had did not know about
US and how it should have governed once they occupied Hawaii.
I am happy that Hawaii is part of U.S., at the same time, very sad, that it became
part of the U.S. through the means which it did.

From the very first time, and still to this day, of how Hawaii was Overthrown,
It was WRONG... NOT RIGHT... And U.S. gov't has done this against the Native American
Tribes as well. All for their lands.

And in Hawaii's case, shipping lanes, sugar, crops, and land, and more that I'm sure I don't know, or understand.
Makes me want to cry, and I have before, to think about when Queen Liliuokalani was held prisoner in
her own palace. Gentle, and caring, she was for her people, (abdicating so that her loyal supporters would be freed from prison... Yes, Queen Li'liuokalani loverd her Hawaii.
She had every right to revolt against U.S.
Sanfordl Dole was his own law, imposing his thinking,
and ignoring Pres. Cleveland's orders, he did whatever he wanted. Well you know the history, and I don't mean to explain it to you.

I love our country, U.S.A. but we have not always done things the right, way, and have taken
in the past what we should not have. Even now "imminent domain" has taken a lot of people's property. It isn't right.

I am a halole girl, who is Hawaiian at heart. I try to learn the language...not fluent by any means..
my love of Hawaiian music has taught me many of the Hawaiian words that I know. I love the culture,
Hula, The Aina, and Her People. I feel like a part of me is in Hawaii, because Hawaii is in my heart to stay.
Since the first time I went to Hawaii in 1987, I've never been the same!
Mahalo for posting the newspaper article.
