I - and others - are trying to hike completely around Hawai'i island. We have hiked across the island on different routes, covering most of the major trails.
One of our most interesting hikes has been - starting at Koholalele Landing - at sea level at Kukaiao on the Hamakua coast, to the summit of Mauna Kea, then to sea level at Luahinewai at Kiholo Bay on the Kona coast.
There are 2 segments on the Hamakua coast and one 7 miles stretch between Puuanahulu and Waimea to do to complete the Hilo to Kona major hike - on the northerly (including Honoka'a, Waimea, etc.) route.
Anytime you or any other Maoli want to hike segments of Hawai'i island - we go!
