I make no judgments about where the info comes from, I can only imagine there are many wise kanaka behind bars in the "State of Hawaii". I would love to learn more. I am a landlocked kanaka stuck in the middle of the states, and have very few resources to guide me.
I've been wanting to create more imagery for Hawaii and Hawaiian activism, and would love to know more so I can make accurate and respectful radical art.
If I may ask, is the mask I made a full, less covered, or broke mask? And what are the diferences in masks, and personalities of activism represented in each?
Thanks again for you mana'o and time! Any other thoughts or resources are very much appreciated!
Aloha AJ,
Welcome, I just wanted to share with you what little I know of the origin of the three different mask. The idea's came from inmates at OCCC for some kind of order and sense of place. First a full mask, second a little less covered, and broke mask. I am a broke mask type of personality when I am interacting as an activist. Take care
