  • Good Morning! My Mom's family originally is from Maui. Moved to Kauai when my Grandma was young. Her name is Kaaumoana. I was blessed to be the first grand daughter and be named after my Grandma. The last name is Kauihou/O'hai and Peters. My Uncle was the Bishop for the Mormon church in Kapa'a and recently retired. My Grandma used to work at the Kapa'a elementary school and sang for the Mormon choir all over the U.S. I used to work at the Marriott in the 90's and then moved back to Washington State-more opportunities. Before I moved back though, I got to work with Aunty LaFrance Kapaka-Arboleda. And she was the one that showed me how we can use our "minority status" to get grants for school or whatever. She was a great lady. My mom lives in the Anahola homesteads and my Uncle rents kayaks and canoes on Wailua river still. Planning to come home soon-need to get refreshed! :) There is nothing like home.....So hard to explain to the people here. Well, I talk to you soon. Take care and A hui hou, Kaaumoana
