  Some mana`o to your question, when seeking or asking for your `ohana `aumakua to reveal itself to you, be specific. Since `aumakua are family guardians and come in times of help you would be blessed if they reveal themself/ves to you in your time of need but do know that not all forms, like mano (sorry no Hawaiian fonts so cannot make kahako) are people's `aumakua. OK, lets say at my house we have dogs. My dogs protect me, my family and our house. I love them, they love me. I feed and aloha, they in turn provide protection, love, and loyalty to me and my family but just because I am friendly with my dogs doesn't mean that all dogs love me. Nor can I expect the same love and loyalty from dogs in different neighborhoods, whether they are kama`aina dogs or malihini dogs (yeah I know that most if not all dogs in Hawai`i are not the original `ilio of old Hawai`i). So what I am saying is to look into your own `ohana and not to forget where your `ohana is from. The mo`olelo from that area might be talking about your `ohana, whether that is pilikoko or as a community they have helped to protect them. In Waimanalo, Kamohoali`i is said to have been cared for by mahi`ai and after consuming part of a bonehead fisherman, got sickened of the smell of the kukae and promised that no one will get bitten by another shark in Waimanalo again. I know of only two times people got bitten. The first was a corpse left in the ocean and the other was a haole who wanted to hana `ino a shark that was trying to eat. Like a dog trying to eat his food, you don't go messing around with it or you might get bite. Ka`ahupahau and Kahi`uka for the people of Ewa. Good luck.
